Hello and welcome to my sewing room!
Today I'm showing you how to make my
#3 Home Town Quilt Block in 5" and also 10" size.
I am using my latest fabric collection HOME TOWN designed by me and produced and distributed by the fabulous Riley Blake Designs.
I have given you the cutting recipe for both sizes below so be sure and click until the entire description of this video is visible below.
I am making these blocks to go into the HOME TOWN SEW ALONG QUILT which takes place on my blog every Friday and Monday during this sew along.
CLICK on this link to go to my blog:
beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com
Each tutorial I'll be showing you just one of ten blocks.
I'm also going to make several blocks of each to make a quilt for my bed and I'll take you along on that journey with me as I sew blocks each time on my vintage featherweight sewing machine.
Thank you for joining me today:)
I hope that you enjoy our time together in my sewing room!!

I just want to thank you, thank you for showing easir way to make this block using same size squares instead of a square and a rectangle of same color. I already many many 2 1/2 inch squares already cut from some jelly roll strips. I was able to make 10 in block in less than hour. Yeay!

First: Your NEW "Hometown Snowman" series is Really Cute! Can't wait to sew that. Second: I love these videos on block construction. Your fast process is always so clever & has elements like the flippy corners instead of HSTs, that I can always count on. My blocks always come out great. Thanks Lori. Yes your Grandson is adorable--they just grow up way too fast!

I have really enjoyed watching you sew your BEAUTIFUL blocks Lori! I just wanted to tell you I've sewn for many years as well. I FINALLY bought some clappers! Yup, I did! 😅 I thought! 🤔 I'm going to put them to the test! 😂 I press seams open as well. WOW!!! 😲 I couldn't BELIEVE how fabulous those clappers REALLY are!! Let me tell anyone who is reading this. Those clappers are a game changer!! NOTHING! will make your seam so flat & beautiful as those clappers do! Why did I wait so long!! 🤦I'm going to buy four more! I do a lot of piecing as well. THEN!! I thought! I can use them when I press my hubby's white shirts!! He has a lot of meetings to go to. A beautiful crisp seam on his sleeves & his collar. I have the tailored one as well that's longer!! It works for them as well!! 🤣🤣 He likes his white shirts starched!! WOW again!!! If you can buy them do. You will NOT be disappointed!! Thank you Lori!! 🎉🎉 🧡🧡 I live in Utah as well. Honestly, I've really enjoyed the cool crisp mornings & the beauty of all the fall colors in the mountains that were surrounded in! Aren't they beautiful this time of year! Along with all the fall trees in our neighborhood! 🧡

I’m so excited to watch these videos and learn… Hometown is going to be my first Lori Holt Quilt and my first LH 🧵 Sew Along. For now all I can do is watch and follow along. 😢 sadly, I fell three weeks ago and broke my arm in three places and have a very long recovery ahead of me. However, I will spend this time following along watching and enjoying the process through your videos Lori until I can start my now delayed project. 🪡 ❤

I love the idea that you repeat yourself. Sometimes if you're listening and not really "paying attention" like if you're listening while working you may not absorb everything that is said. But if it's repeated enough I feel like your brain does pick that up at some point - just happened to me recently. I have watched your videos over and over. The sew your stash series. Recently I just picked up a few things that I KNOW I've heard a few times but then it was like ding ding ding ding. It clicked lol

Lori, what is the advantage of having the Riley Blake Quilter’s Clapper vs other clappers that are tapered? I have tapered ones that I’ve been using more and more since I saw how you use Riley Blake’s. I now wish that I had Riley Blake’s but the investment can be substantial. I’d rather invest in your fabrics and patterns 😉
