Cid did use his Atomic attack but instead of destroying the whole city he directed it to the sky. If you pay attention, before he uses it the sky was cloudy and raining while after he did the attack it was a clear sky.

The thing about Cid is that he doesn't even know the Cult is real. He is just having a blast roleplaying his dream character and thinks that all his group is playing his game out of consideration. So it is hilarious when he is saving everyone without even realizing.

Important things cool to know about this episode: 1. Shadow, as some comments already pointed out, did in fact used the atomic blast. Shadow actually felt insulted when Iris said he was running away and for a second he really intended to blow away the whole kingdom. The credits for this episode show 666 instead of Rose for the cast members, cool easter egg. 3. The scene showing Sherry surrounded by Shadow wanted posters is actually anime only. 4. The anime director animated by himself the Iris black and white scene, this shows how much love was put into this anime. 5. S2 comes in october this year, HYPE!

I loved this episode so much the way the animated him perception blitzing them was crazy literally couldn’t even see him move and the finale part when he started laughing and asked why he would be running I can only imagine the fear going through their minds after seeing that he easily had the power to destroy everything

There is a reason why Shadow noted that the Artifact Blade was made of mythril. All materials have some degree of magical conductivity. Most don’t go past 10%. Mythril is sought after because it has 50% conductivity. There is one material better. Slimes have 99% conductivity. Basically, the use magic to hold themselves together. There have been attempts to make the useful for humans, but were written off as incompatible. Cid saw the report and disagreed with the results.

Regarding Orianna finding out about Cid, the ONLY ones who know about Shadow's identity are the "Named Shadows" Alpha, Beta etc etc Not even the rest in Shadow Garden should know that info as far as i can remember. And, as much as we can be happy about Iris "Barely-named-Sidecharacter" Midgard's humbling. She too dumb to realize that it was indeed a humbling that took place.

The Royal Bushin style of swordplay is pretty new, compared to the more popular Bushinryu. Iris was hoping that with her victory in the tournament and the propagation of the art, she might’ve had more political pull. And, yes, Claire was declared the winner by default. Iris was in no mood to continue in the tournament and Mundane Mann/Shadow was disqualified.

Soo good, I really hope next season he fights someone really strong that can challenge him even if of course he whoops them in the end.. I just PRAY they have the same director and audio people because those two things elavated this from a good anime to a GREAT anime.. The direction and the soundtrack added soo much, especially the ASMR "Atomic".. And you guys finished it(or at least uploaded it) so close to when S2 is coming!

Bro the eminence in shadow episode 20 was mind blowning , super gorgeous smooth animation , iris / beatrix v.s shadow fight interesting , possible perv run way aka oriana kingdom arc , rose join shadow gaeden , probably future alexia join shadow harder or help shadow to destroy cult of diablos , beatrix searching her niece aka alpha / future elf arc reference and next arc lawless city arc with unexpected plot twist . I give this anime 8.7 out 10 rating .

Cid is the one who is clueless. This is all just a game to him. He doesn't realize there actually is a cult and isn't trying to fight the good fight, he is just having fun. The only reason he entered the tournament in the first place was so he could play the dark horse underdog. He stepped in because Rose stole his thunder and he wanted the attention back on him. The rest of Shadow Garden is fighting the good fight as they really do want to defeat the cult.

He doesn't even know the cult exists, he just thought the gang is just playing along with him, which he appreciates.
