I know a guy who Never wears shoes. He worked on Alaska fishing boats years ago, and got so tired of wearing rubber boots and suits he vowed to let his feet feel free. I’ve even seen him walking around in the rare Texas snow and ice..yep sandals 🩴 That’s dedicated. I’m sure Florida weather would be great for that. You’d have those funny tan lines on your feet! Great video Huge..Thanks! Hope your trip home went well. It’s kind of a Huge weather difference. Sandals to Snowshoes. ☀️❄️

Great subject. Nobody is old enough to get the shadow casting comment. There were two guys who owned a fly shop in Lafayette, CO who wore shorts for a whole year.

Hey Ben! I just realized how nice it is to have the beer sessions at the end of the videos while many of us are locked inside. Keep it up man! To answer your question, my ice fishing season was pretty good! Caught my first and second trophy through the ice (2 perch over 13" on the same day)! Also got a nice brook trout, a bunch of small rainbows, and my first crappie.

The bigger steelhead are harder. Those coleman hatchery fish they put in the american and feather are a bit easier but location and good drift with egg patterns or even using nightcrawlers with spinning tackle will catch you a few fish. February has been best for me The american is tough but there's good fish in there. Do you fish the shad runs?

@@fishingwithjohn8712 you don’t have to wait until April to fish, there are areas still open near you as state agencies allow. It’s an artificial market they create yearly by selling the ‘season’ mentality.

Even approaching bass in a creek can be very tricky a slight move of the arm or disturbance of the tree branches can send them running or they eyeball you and any attempt to get a bite results in inspection and criticism

suggestion for post creds: maybe add in some time lapses of you tying some random flies. Dont have to record yourself tying for each video. just record whenever you do have the time to fly some ties and then you will just have tons of b roll you can throw in at the end of videos to fill up some time. just an idea..... not trying to tell you what to do. loving the content and merch! keep it up

The only time I got down to the keys was during a damn tropical storm. Despite it being November. Still caught a decent amount of fish despite the weather. (just not the species I wanted) Imagine if the weather was good! Really seems like a fisherman's paradise.

Those shadows are really easy to reach with a Tenkara rod. I have an adjustable one that can go from 10' to 13'.

I like to creep into the spot staying in tree shadows. Keep your own shadow off the water as much as possible, and it pays off!

No place in Florida is further than 75 miles from salt water. It is calling you.I know you hear it. Leave the snow shovel behind. It is not your friend.
