Why are people in India going down the rabid path of looking for cultural causes of the failure of secularism--this is only going to muddy the water further so we make things worse, not better. We have to create a common vision for India together. Yes, reversing Shah Bano judgment was a big mistake for which we have been paying a heavy, heavy price. But we need to move on towards a more perfect union. This why USA, UK, Australia, etc have pursued secularism and they are also trying to move towards a more perfect union. You label RSS as bloodthirsty but conveniently forget the massacres of hindus in J&K, Assam, kerala and in the so called peaceful west Bengal where temples are also desecrated. The latest incident of Bangalore...it goes on and on. My family was also butchered during partition in comilla and we have also been raised with the hindu ethos like universal brotherhood but our politeness is mistaken for cowardice.
