Now you know why most older aged people don't like or understand the music of today. The artist of yesteryear needed talent as there was no computer or autotune to enhance their voices

I am just an old white guy that loves you both. Thank you for keeping Doo Wop alive. I was in the 7th grade when this song and "Since i Don`t Have You" were popular. I love when you play songs from that era and give them the respect they deserve. I grew up in Pittsburgh and the Skyliners were a local group. The Skyliners used to play all of the Pittsburgh Clubs and performed as recently as a few years ago. The lead singer was Jimmy Beaumont and his sterling voice remained just as pure in his 70`s. Unfortunately Jimmy passed away a few short years ago. Now Jimmy, with that Heavenly voice, performs for Jesus. Thanks again

She's singing throughout the entire song -- in the harmony -- then at the end goes high soprano. Her name was Janet Vogel. She took her life in 1980. There's a movie about her.

The Skyliners are an American doo-wop group form the 50's-60's. They are best known for their 1959 hit "Since I Don't Have You". But they had other good songs such as "Pennies From Heaven", "It Happened Today", "Close Your Eyes", "Comes Love", "This I Swear", "Where Have They Gone?" etc.

Actually, as I recall, this is from early, 1960 ----------in the photo, 17 y/o Jimmy Beaumont is to the LEFT of 16 y/o Janet Vogel ; Jimmy sang lead, Janet was a pure Soprano, & yes, that's her voice hitting that high C , at the very end. They were from Pittsburgh PA, & from 2 local groups, they came together, recorded in NYC with Lenny Martin's 21 piece orchestra, which included, 10 stings : 6 violin, 2 cello, & 2 viola . In Denver, on 1630 AM, KOSI, this song was in the Top 10, for weeks & weeks , & became THE #1 wedding -dance song of my generation ! ----------MJL, 75 y/o

-Shows how the resurgence of harmonizing today, back thru the 90s 80s & 70s was deeply inspired directly & indirectly by the real nice sounds of the 60s & 1950s doowop harmony group sounds from those years. A lot of younger people today would be surprised how nice it really was. From back before studio synthisizers & auto tune could make a bad singer sound good.

On the internet under Pittsburgh Music History I found the following very sad details about the tragic ending of the beautiful female singer Janet Vogel: "Unbeknownst to her band mates Janet's life at home was unhappy. She was trapped in a tumultuous marriage and suffered from depression. Janet and her husband Kerry Rapp clashed over her career. Kerry, an ex-Marine and tough street-wise Pittsburgh cop, was described by his son Gavin as selfish, overbearing, and controlling. Janet was emotionally fragile and may have suffered from bipolar disorder. She sank into a deep depression that worsened over the years. Deeply in despair she wrote notes on the insides of dresser drawers such as 'Help me. I can't live like this. I can't take this" according to her son Gavin Rapp. On February 21, 1980 Janet was to receive an award recognizing her achievements with the Skyliners. She packed up her car with Skyliners memorabilia to take to the awards ceremony. But she never made it out the garage. Depression overtook her. She committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. Janet was 37 years old. She left behind three young children."
