I like to think that some of the unused designs are how they would dress back in the two separate worlds. Cammuravi’s beta design certainly seems more “Blade” than soldier.

Since Mwamba's unused Hero recruitment line is "Let's smash this mission, for the Consul!", which is definitely something that can only be realistically said in Chapter 1, then the far more likely theory imo is that Mwamba was originally going to be a proper introduction to Heroes in Chapter 1, and by extension, likely mean that Chain Attacks were originally going to be unlocked in Chapter 1 instead of Chapter 2. They likely moved both the Hero and Chain Attack unlocks/tutorials to later in the game, both to not overwhelm the player with too many mechanics at once, and also to make it so that you have the full party by the time you have access to these tools. Another possible theory is that Mwamba is the test/dummy character for Heroes and Hero Chain Attacks. Either way, due to the fact that there is no unused Blade associated with him unlike with Joran and Nimue, he was likely never planned to be a permanent Hero at any point in development.

I didn't see you cover it, but one of the concepts for Rex shows him attacking in a manner that looks reminiscent of Mythra's Photon Edge special where he quickly dashes around an area attacking multiple times. My guess is it was probably a contender to be his talent art or an unused idea for unison attacks. Its a shame too cause if he did have that, then he'd have something from both pyra and mythra in his kit.

Also the shade of saying people would like Joran more if he was skinny, like damn bro don't be mean, also Joran as a hero probably would've been in a playable flashback scene, like maybe the flashback scene of a practice battle against Garvel's team was a playable section

I wonder if mio having an aegis core crystal might be a remnent from Rex heart having part of pyra/mythra's core crystal and the effects lingered even after his heart being repaired. wouldn't surprise me if the aegis core crystal altered Rex dna in some capacity considering similar precedents do exist with how the creation process for blades becoming flesh eaters and a human becoming a blade eaters both showing signs of the host being altered after the fact.

Thanks for the shout out. I found even more unused voice files after you made this video. It appears that almost every named NPC has battle voice lines, regardless if you fight them or not. It'll probably be a few weeks before I post them because I need to finish sorting through all the other used files to make sure I don't miss anything else.

@@ShiftedPyro At the end of Chapter 1, Moebius D says "Now the whole world will be your enemy!" I'm guessing you were originally supposed to fight NPCs from every Colony before you freed them. But then the confusing thing about that is the City NPCs also have battle lines too.

There is some art of Ponny tail Noah with Monado replica so yeah, beta noah design. There's also a cool underwater captocorn peak/gormott head The leftherian islands on the grass gives me major Xenoblade X Primordia vibes Also, yeah team cape for N&M and costumes for heroes (give us a wave 5 monolith!) , maybe in XC3 definitive edition

30:16 My favorite piece of unused graphics has to be strm_hero_pic. A relatively unremarkable piece in the grand scheme of things, but the fact that it's one of the earliest design concepts and it was created day and date with *my 20th birthday* is downright AWESOME to have learned!

Last week i attended fanime expo in san jose california. And there, i found a copy of the full official art books of both xenoblade 2 and 3. It was well worth the money as the self proclaimed “pope of the church of klaus” so i get to see all the cut content and beta designs and concept art i could ever want.

things i don't believe were mentioned, there seem to be leftovers for a photo mode that was going to be in the game, although not much. They also mention in the book that they thought about having whole towns on ferronis's but reduced the scale (you can still see this in some art). and there was art of the colony mio comes from (forgot the name rn) that has a different flame clock and a zohar on it. also if you enter Z's theatre without his bossfight you can fight the screen in it(it just takes one hit) just a very odd thing. And the reson given for N and M's capes being removed was that it interfered with their hair in modeling.

Ooh I see. I didn't know about the photo mode, would've been great to have it in the game especially for awesome screenshot opportunities. The reason for N and M not having capes is a bummer but is understandable. Probably would've looked more goofy than cool in practice.

They could have had multiple zohars if those were zohar emulators, and maybe they would have looked more like the emulators if Monolith stuck with that idea. I suspect that they still could not secure rights permissions from Squeenix before XC3 originally released, and by the time Future Redeemed released they only had enough time to include several nods to Xenosaga instead of straight up including zohars/emulators.

This is awesome! I love the concept art for xenoblade 3 arguably the most out of the games in the series. There’s just one thing I got confused by, how does the game and art book deconfirm Sena’s connection to Brighid? If it’s because of the core crystals not matching it could be cuz she might’ve inherited the circular core Crystal and ether lines from Aegeon assuming that Sena is the daughter of Brighid and Aegeon

@@ShiftedPyro that’s true, though it could be that Sena’s parents are both blades, so if Sena’s father is Aegeon, then it’s possible for her to have inherited the ether lines and round core Crystal from him

Melia does use Mind Blast, and a couple other arts she doesn’t use as a hero, during her robot boss fight. I think the voice lines are different though

There's two things about the unused Heroes that really makes me think that you were supposed to be allowed to have them as NG+ content. One, after beating the game, when returning to your save file, You get a few new accessories that are auto attached to Mwamba, despite him not being in the list, and when Ethele leaves in the main game, her accessories disappear from the list. Another is more so a reason they Could and should have been. They could have gone the way of Shulk/Rex and had them not interact with cutscenes.

After seeing all those beta designs, I gotta say - the final cast looks absolutely spectacular. there's so much unity between the six of them, but with a lot of personal expression at the same time. I don't think I would have connected with the cast nearly as well as I did if they wore those goofy-ass fits.

Cool video but RUDE, don't talk about Joran like that, he's great just the way he is ! Skinny Joran is some cursed shit, I like the final design way better. Wish there were more fat characters in Xenoblade tbh, I understand that there's not as many fat people in Japan compared to say, the US, but almost all the ones we get are antagonists... Even Joran was against us most of the game.

Especially if it was decided early that Shulk would still use the Monado REX from Future Connected and his movement/animations would take after Dunban, they probably could just look back at whatever concepts they had for those instead of making new ones here.
