In this episode we build the awesome v2.5f aluminum split top plate chassis for the Traxxas Slash 4x4 from Shining Star Chassis. This is a detailed and complete guide on how to build the kit. A great insight to a well designed product.

Good job on this I really enjoyed your step by step no nonsense approach. Especially the way you edited out all the stuff that wasn't needed in an effort to keep it all nice and neat.

I'm pretty thankful you uploaded this video; I just built one of these but when mine came in the mail all the screws had slipped through the dividers and it came with no instructions, so this helped alot.

Damn I love your slash 4x4 in the video! I’m really wanting to have my slash also compete at a top level with the other trucks! Money is really not soo much of an issue so I’m wondering if you could tell me if a great place to get all the info I would need for upgrading my slash as opposed to constant searching like I have been doing? Thanks soo much for your videos and info already!

Did you have problems with the spur gear hitting the chassis? I do with my center diff. Maybe I pushed it into the mount too far? Any thoughts?
@NorthernLightRC
@NorthernLightRC 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryan, no, I haven't had any problems with my spur gear. I run 54t spur and 14t pinion. That is a strange problem, might you have mounted anything wrong? I would disassemble that part and rebuild to see if it helps.

whats making your Traxxas that wide and low and mean looking? Aftermarket wheel-combo? Aftermarket body...or both?
@NorthernLightRC
@NorthernLightRC 5 жыл бұрын
I’ve done nothing to the wheel width. Just had to lower the truck to be more stable at a high grip carpet track. So less preload on the shocks to make it sit good and low. I guess the bodies I use also helps it look lower. I use proline flotek bodies. Also the proline adjustable body mounts lets me lower the body to the point where it sits low without rubbing the wheels to the body. Hope that helped :)

You are really fast as i saw in your full race, (which i want to see more of) but do you think you could of raced as fast and turned as well exc with the stock lcg chassis, or is this a must for racing?
@NorthernLightRC
@NorthernLightRC 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! I will upload more racing and training videos soon, for sure. Our new track is super cool!! For club racing at beginner level you don't have to use the Shining Star Chassis to be able to compete. If you address tires, steering bell crank and servo, you will be able to get a lot more control over the truck, especially when turning. I've addressed steering in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mdOmicaSvbSpno0.html. The Shining star Chassis is a great improvement in terms of letting you have a lot more control over a steady and responsive truck, but I'm being beaten on the track by good drivers in stock slashes ALL THE TIME :) In the end it's all about the driver.

Thank you so much for all the instructions. I'm new to RC and I got myself a Slash Ultimate. My back part of the chassis got broken after just a few rides and I just ordered from Mike his chassis. Your will video will help me a lot. Can you please tell me the name of the stand that you are using? By the way, Mike is a great and genious guy!

Hi Andrei, and thank you for tuning in to my channel! I'm glad you can use my video for your future SSC build. You are very right, Mike is a really great guy. He is very helpful and gives great customer support on a personal level. Also he has too much knowledge about his chassis and rc racing in general. The stand I use is Duratrax pit tech deluxe. I bought it from eBay. It's very nice to have! Andrei, where are you from? Russia?
@anmic3590
@anmic3590 7 жыл бұрын
Northern Light RC Hi! Thank you for the reply. I know that my name is Russian, but, no. I'm from Romania :) Mike just told me that his grandmother was from Romania so I feel that we are kind of conected more than by a chassis :) I'm looking forward to receive the chassis and I will let you know when everything is up and running. If you won't mind, if necessary, I will get back to you if I will get stucked or something. But your video is so helpful and I hope that I will make it by myself. So far, I haven't done any other upgrades besides a 2s lipo and the upcoming proline badlands. I hope they will make a difference. In fact, I was wondering if you can tell me if traxxas diff oils 30k front and 50k back will work fine? Thank you for all that you do!
@NorthernLightRC
@NorthernLightRC 7 жыл бұрын
+Andrei Michailov, cool! I have a friend from Cluj-Napoca. Small world! Yes keep me updated on how your ssc build goes, and I will gladly help you if you need assistance. The badlands are really good for gravel, dirt, sand and grass. Not so much for asphalt, but they are my favorite offroad bashing tires. I think the stock diff fluid setup is 30k front and 100k rear. I run thinner oils in my track racer, 10k rear and 7k front, but I think you'll do good with 30k front, 50k rear for bashing.

@NorthernLightRC
@NorthernLightRC 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I really don’t deserve the good sub base, because my life situation has not allowed me to create new content for a good while. But I mean, what creates good subs is to address topics that are not to be found already. All my topics are about stuff I’ve had to go really deep to find a solution for, so all I try to do is to make the answers more available!

is this heavy?
@NorthernLightRC
@NorthernLightRC 7 жыл бұрын
No it isn't very heavy. I don't have the exact numbers here, but the SSC chassis is 50-100 (I think I remember this) grams lighter than the LCG chassis. The big difference lies in how the weight is distributed on the chassis. It feel lighter and stiffer when driving it.
