The final member of my Water Monotype Challenge in Sapphire! Shiny Clamperl.
I literally couldn't have asked for a better way to finish this quest. Relicanth first phase doing the repel trick and then Clamperl first phase after using Sweet Scent. Perfect. Very happy to have finished this quest off. It wasn't tough but more, tedious. Two fishing encounters & the Relicanth repel trick but as my collection grows, hunts will become harder. I thoroughly enjoyed this quest start to finish. I love doing monotype challenges and this will be the first of many, many of these throughout the series.

I've always thought that the reason clamperl evolves into huntail and gorebyss is because the pearl in clamperl wasn't actually a pearl but an egg that then hatches into huntail or gorebyss

I thought so too, it doesn’t seem like a regular Pearl because it has a face in the Pearl which only supports this as evidence and would suggest its actually a living being. :3

I appreciate the evolution effort, I don't have any gen 3 games atm, and back when I did, I didn't have a way to do trade evolves (or have Colluseum). So, it's kinda like seeing a brand new pokemon experience for me. Great work.

Ive been hunting on hgss lately, and was doing the game corner and was over odds on ekans so i decided to take a break and ev train against some heracross. Monotype quests must be a bit tricky to plan out since sometimes certain games maybe not have many Pokémon available of that certain monotype. It worked out really well with this quest getting relicanth first phase as well! Goated shiny Steve!

What’s with the cry at 8:24 once it’s evolved into Huntail?? Is that a glitch or do all gen 3 trade evos make that sound? (It’s been literally nearly two decades since I’ve done a gen 3 trade evolution) that’s so weird lol

Shinys take soo much time to get! Ive been doing about 50-150 resets a day for 2 months and still don't have shiny Ho Oh on Soul Silver. Currently on 8500 resets. Maybe i should do more resets a day but its just soul destroying at times

I found a shiny Clamperl in my emerald version and transferred it to platinum so I could evolve it. Don’t know which form to evolve it to though.

Huh, when I did my gen 3 living dex I did all my trade evolutions with Colosseum and XD, but now I can't remember if they evolve when they get to the gamecube or if it only does it on the gba when you send them back
