Just checked my K11 and sure enough there was a tag with a name and year.

I had a 1945 K31 that had 2...same name but one from tank div and one for motorcycle div with later date.

ritterbruder212 I got a spare. Rare to get original ones again. The metal one should do you fine. Also we you replace the nob check for rust. My replacement handle had a lot of small pitting. You want to get that off.

*Miguel Hernandez* There is a sticker on my K31 that someone told me awhile back meant that it was in a shooting match in Switzerland. I made a small video showing the M1911 I got at Classic, letting people know about the deal, while also showing my K31. Someone actually from Switzerland told me that sticker was actually the coat of arms for one of the cantons (basically the same as one of our states) and this was akin to someone from Texas putting a Lone Star sticker on their AR. Good Info to have... I am still leaving the sticker on.

Milsurp Mike Channel if it's a red sticker/tape it's for shooting matches. That's what I know about that.

sherm dog they made a lot of straight pulls the cheapest is the M95 (hard to get ammo for), the Ross is a very good straight pull, and then you have the Swiss rifles. Anything not updated for the 1911 ammo (GP11 and 7.5x55) is not safe for it. The early Swiss straight pulls use a 7.5x53.5 which isn't made anymore and moat be handmade.

400 USD?!? I bought three in 2010 for 240 Swiss Francs with bajonett. Here in Switzerland the offering price is still at the most 250 Francs, today about 275 USD (December 2023 rate).

If you reload the Privi is better, GP11 is berdan primed and not easily reloaded.

mike C you can convert to shoot boxer but that's a little bit of work. I got some GP11 that I can convert but I need to get some things to do the conversion.

John Deeter Prvi is good. GP11 is getting hard to find and if you reload it's a little hard to reload. I say Prvi is fine. People make GP11 seem like the greatest ammo out for the Swiss rifles. It's really good for milsurp ammo but you can handload better.

PPU is all that’s really available.

I compared GP11 and the PPU out of my K31 and 96/11 and both ammo types were consistent out of both rifles. The PPU was hitting slightly lower at 100 yards but all rounds were within a 1 MOA group for both rifles using both types of ammo. Each ammo type on its own was sub-MOA. Your rifles and results might vary but generally very similar results between GP11 and PPU so far in my experience. The slight differences between the ammo types will matter more at longer distances so just keep that in mind too.

It's the same mic we've used for years. We went to a lav mic a few weeks ago because people were saying the audio of the gun fire was blowing their ears out when wearing headsets.

Peter Averink please don't. If something breaks it will be hard to get parts for and they also didn't make a 1 million k11 or k31 so it's not like a Mosin. Many have been destroy, sporterized and so on. No reason to do that when the Swiss did there own test.

Nick J you really can't find them for cheap in that condition. I'm guessing today's market it would be in the $500-600 MAX. I got mine for $480 but not in that condition it's a bit worn but my is a little rare being a 1900 shortrifle converted to a k11.

StPaul76 I heard if you had made a Swiss rifle today it would cost $2000-$3000 or what a k31 "sniper" variant is worth.

Like said "read from somewhere", I don't recall exactly.. Could have been Canadian dollars..? However I do find that 2000$ kinda low for that's a normal price for today's quality rifle.. Sauers, Blasers, Mausers and Sakos and Kimbers of today start at around 2000-3000+€ instead of dollars but of course there is a profit margin added. Even an FN SCAR costs more than 2000 bucks and it has alloys and plastics in it and practically no handwork.. Same with the Sig 550-series.. The price what it used to cost back in the days of early 1900's is very likely that 2000-3000$ per rifle in today's money.. But what it would cost to manufacture one NOW according the same standards of manufacturing and precision is another calculation. It is like having a rifle built by a gunsmith. And then giving it to raw recruits in mass armies to abuse and mishandle.. :D

You’re actually right. I didn’t want to correct him but a straight pull does intact have a rotating bolt. The bolt handle on a rifle like the Mauser does give you a bit more leverage IMHO when working a stuck case out whereas the straight pulls are more abrupt when you man handle them and can rip rims off. I can’t say this is a common issue and therefore rather moot. But back to your point they both do in fact rotate/cam into and out of lockup. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll take my moment of glory while I can because I'm sure to ask questions where I miss the point entirely. I've got some interest in a subject of which I have virtually no practical knowledge but at the moment fortunate enough to have access to many educational content creators. Perhaps more accurately film or documentary makers in the non KZfaq world. KZfaq does have lot of parallels to prehistoric normal TV. A lot of it is moving wallpaper or cheap dross that exists only for; ad revenue, product promotion fees, phone line promotion, etc, etc, etc Ad Astra. (as another YT presenter is fond of saying) However hidden in all that dogshit are true gold nuggets. If you are watching one of these channels then it's only common courtesy to sit up straight and listen to what they are saying. Hence why I was listening intently. I'm sad about current YT attitudes because I've only found a lot of the nuggets by accident and I fear I'll miss many more before I find them if they're hounded out by YT or just can't afford to produce content because they're being shafted out of ad revenue.

convex I heard the same news too but the issue I find is are they testing different barrel lengths? From what I've heard of the 6.5 creedmore is it's performance depends on a 20" or 24" barrel any shorter than that ballistics and trejectory suffer due to lack of velocity. Who knows it may cause the military to adopt bullpups to maintain barrel length but they handle different cost more to make and are generally not southpaw/weak side friendly
