Anyone have any idea why Dubas is allowed to run PIT's draft, yet Treliving is not allowed to run the leafs? Both contracts run until June 30th.

Scouts are the key to the draft especially when a team does not have a top 20 pick. GM gets involved in trade day deals though.

@@Gl-my8fw Because he would be fully aware of Leafs strategy and targets for this draft. He was just running our scouting for draft a few weeks ago. Same reason Flames won't let Brad be involved in Leafs draft this year. It's very common when you go from running one team to another right before draft or free agency. The draft strategy is proprietary info.

@@Gl-my8fw Well, you could say why have any rules about tampering in any sports, people break those rules all the time. Point is that it's against the rules for a very good reason. How well enforced it is, is another issue.

Drafting is one of the things his staffs have always done well. But I get it, the Flames wouldn't like it for a good reason, he was privy to their draft strategy for this upcoming draft I have to imagine.

Wasn't Dubas privy to leafs strategy, so why the different standard?

Kevin Hayes!!! 😂😂 I am pretty sure Treliving has a cell phone. So even if he is not at the actual drafting table, he will be in direct communication with the Leafs table and the other teams throughout the draft. In the end ... it's a nothing burger.

It's 1 draft year. The leafs don't have a top 10 or even top 20 pick. Who even cares.

Does a one-legged Duck swim in circles? Of course he should be involved. What is this kindergarten? (and for the Capt Obviouses out there... yes I know one-legged ducks can swim straight ffs.)

I think the point is that we have all of our scouts and management on the same page. Plus Shanahan doing Shanahan things. Treliving isn't yet familiar with our scouts and he should be involved in the draft in a small way but shouldn't have a major role.
