Join Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site Supervisor Rob for a look at the unique and controversial Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex once located near Nekoma, North Dakota. Seen today as an abandoned pyramid, the Nekoma site was the first and only nuclear anti-ballistic missile system ever fielded by the United States. Deployed at a cost of $6 billion, the site ultimately had a very short lifespan in the mid 1970s.

Great presentation. I grew up near the site for the Montana installation and we used to visit the remains that were left over. It wasn't very complete and there was no pyramid structure. I've heard that it is now a graffiti mess but wasn't that way in the late 70's to mid 80's. I remember a bunch of friends in my grade school not being around after the project was shut down and construction cancelled. Growing up in the missile fields during the Cold War was an interesting experience and we had several LF's on our land. Little was shared about the details of these facilities especially as a youth so presentations like this one are fascinating.

You can get a tour of the site if you contact the Economic Director in Langdon, ND. They currently own the tactical side of the complex.

It should be noted that the Grand Forks AFB Minuteman missile system was deactivated in 1991 and all missiles were removed.

It’s pretty weird when part of our lives becomes historical. Peace was our profession..

The Officer was not referring to N. Dakota as a bad assignment he meant the base assignment. In those times these bases were full of stress, so not a great place to be sent off and serve! No matter where they were located.

The approximate 5 billion dollar price tag (around 33 billion $ in todays money) for the north dakota pyramid base is a huge front for underground black budget government and corporate space science, travel, weaoponry and technology missions and projects regarding intergalactic activities and travel. Likely the secret space program and mars defense forse was created with this project money, among other sources. Today the black budget projects is in the trillions of $.

Great video. From Minot. Today's "Interceptor" for TBM's is a front of warhead tracking missile which intercepts the incoming TBM. This was developed because of the one failure of the Patriot missile during the Gulf War in which the Patriot (center of missile tracking) exploded 2 meters from the center of the incoming missile. Of course in the failure, the incoming missile quit flying but the warhead fell onto a National Guard barracks. So now in the 4 tube setup are 2 Patriots and 2 Interceptor missiles. Great content, Thanks!

This has the feeling of an early proof of concept for the navies Aegis systems. With the extremely powerful phased array.

Enjoy your video and how you explain the technical. aspects of these systems but in my opinion the bottom line is the United States has no will or desire to defend the continental United States and its citizens everybody talks about technology they could use that technology if they decided to to put in place in effective ABM system they don't want to do it too much money they wouldn't have the stick in their pockets

Just like the Washington monument is 6660 inches tall.+ 666 in wide and the catalog number for that monument is 66000035? This is 666 again just a coincidence don't believe me check it out for yourself but that would be work got leaves 90% of Americans out
