As an Indian, I feel Lin Dan was the one who spoiled people. His movement made it look like badminton was an easy game considering the way he fluidly floated around the court. You can have your LCW and Axelsens. No disrespect to them. But no one will ever come close to Lin Dan

Ganesh Ragava No not at present he is not upto his level. It's Just that lin dan is not in form. And I'm talking about LD's best and at that no one is even close to him. I don't think Shrikant or any other player can achieve what Lin Dan has but I hope he does.

This is the oldest version of Lin Dan we’re watching in this video, where he is already slowing down. Between 2007 to 2012 the guy was untouchable. Watch his Beijing 2008, AE 2009, Thomas Cup 2010 and AE 2012 videos.

Most amazing thing about lin dan is he is true goat. I have seen so many complains abt goat status. For example PELE(Football) people say his time defenders were weak. For Mike Tyson(Boxing_ they say he didn't have a good competitor. For Federer(Tennis) people say he has negative record against Nadal. Stephan Hendry(Snooker) people say he had a short career peak. Like wise so many complaints or counter arguments about those legends. Lin Dan is really a true GOAT. His era he had the best of the best. Another genius Taufik, PG, LCW, CH, CJ, PDK so many. But his level is so high that he became 2 time Olympic and 5 time world champion 6 time All England(10 time finalist). And there is no apparent weakness in his game. Also he revamped his style over the years which is a very rare unique quality. Ex : 2000- 2006 he was competing with Taufik. LD used power game mostly consist of deadly smash and fast reflexes. But TH beat him in skillfull net play. After 2006 LD mastered net play. And his consistency is also extraordinary. Even in his twilight years he is still in top 5 position. In nutshell LD is virtuso and true GOD of badminton. I am pretty sure one day he will be worshiped by some. Intelligent, smart, hard working, dedicated and adaptive champ.

FC Cheung I think he loses these days because he doesn’t give much shit anymore. I always like to compare him with Lee Chong Wei. LD’s latest “couldn’t give a shit” defeat was to this Indonesian lad Rhustavito in Thailand. You think Chong Wei would have lost to Rhustavito if they had played yesterday, despite Chong Wei being close to 37, even older than LD? I don’t think so. It’s because Chong Wei still plays like he cares. He would make sure he does enough to win if he could. And I think LD would still beat Chong Wei if they had played today. So if Chong Wei could still beat these youngsters, LD could also... if he’d just bother a bit more. But he doesn’t bother anymore. Then again, he’s the greatest. He can lose every match from now until he retires and he’d still be the greatest.

@@KeithHiew Very true, Lin Dan has had such great dominance over other players that he doesnt feel the need to give his best anymore. Lee Chong Wei always carried the chip over his shoulder of not having won the big tournaments enough so he tried his best till he retired

I always thought, Taufik Hidayat is the best MS ever, and then Lin Dan came... and i confused 😅 I hope we gonna watch someone who can surpass them. LCW is out of this world too, but if you compare him with Lin Dan, achievement wise, i go with Lin Dan all day all the way.

just wonder how Li Yongbo shape & train him up, his shot structure / arrangement is unpredictable and his response to opponent shot is always one step ahead, especially on crucial points..

his coach is tang xianhu.. this guy is a legendary coach who also the mastermind of indonesian golden generation in 90's before he comeback to china. tang xianhu said lindan is different from any other players he ever coach, because lindan have a great vision, he play like he see the game from above, he could predict the opponent next shot most of the time.. that's why you could see lin dan always play like walking on court. because he make the opponent move like the way he want most of the time. even a legend like lee chongwei find it difficult to play against him.
