We were driving down Interstate 10 and came across The Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch. We've driven by here at least a dozen times but somehow never stopped. This time we had some extra time because of something else that fell through and decided to check out the ranch. We were glad we id.
Located right next to Picacho Peak in Arizona, Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch opened in 1987 and claims it is the Darndest Place You'll Visit. They have a large selection of animals you can feed such as donkeys, deer, parakeets, goats, rabbits, tortoises, and even stingrays. Of course there are ostriches too, which we learned do bite.
The Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch was a lot of fun to stop and a great place to get off the road for a bit.

I've been a lover of wildlife all my life, so I really appreciate this! I keep a sunflower seed feeder for the winter and a hummingbird feeder for the summer, great entertainment for the cats! I made a table for them right by the window but they can't get to anything!

Oh man. That was one of our earliest adventures on our channel when we were trying to figure our what the heck we were doing. LOL. It's SUCH a crazy strange place and just based on our experience there, those animals are in NO danger of going hungry. 😂 Really such a fun, fun place & enjoyed our time there. Thanks for taking us back! 😊

Going to check your video out to see how its changed. We've driven past a bunch of times but somehow never really noticed it before or if we did didn't think to stop (even though we've stopped at the Picacho Peak travel center). Really fun place.

I’ve stopped there once around 15 years ago. Can’t believe how it’s grown with much more attractions and animals. Thanks for the tour. I’m going to Tucson and Tombstone in a few weeks. Will have to check it out again.

This is one of our favorite places in AZ. We were just here (again) in the Summer of 21. The Lorikeets are the best part. I could sit in there for hours.

I've watched that place grow since he built it. At first only ostrich.. There used to be a restaurant next door that sold ostrich burgers but it burned down! Then he added deer, then the f of goats and donkeys and lorikeets... I miss the place and took all my visitors there. I wonder if Rooster is still alive? The Ostrich Bite sign has been there since the beginning too.😊

OMG that brings back memories of driving from SD to Oklahoma (where my grandparents lived) Hour after hour listening to the hum of the tires on Interstate 8, then I-10 and finally NM/TX hwy70 and then TX/OK Hwy 60. Vici Ok was the final destination. Come to think about it... the roadside attractions were a lot more interesting than Vici, Ok was! They had a collection of attractions more diverse than the Ostrich Ranch. All were a gip joint but my Dad couldn't resist his kid begging to stop!

Also the title of the sequel was just Rooster Cogburn. My first thought when I saw the vid title was to wonder how this place gets away with using the name, that would've been a top interesting fact about the place.

Now that was a cute video. Here in Texas we have a town on the border called lajitas and the mayor is a goat and you can give him bottles of beer and he will drink them lol

Used to pass this area on our way to NM. We stopped once in the middle of winter to feed the ostrich and deer. This was 7 or 8 years ago and I don't think they had the goats or parakeets. Interesting to stop once. haha!

They aren't going to start the monster truck rides, they are going to resume doing them. I can't remember why they stopped but I think I heard something about covid and then some issues with one of busses. You should stop and rid the bus around since they take it over some bumps to bounce people around in the back while talking about the natural wildlife in the area. They also give you some sticks with rope to go ostrich fishing from the platform on the back side of the property.

Nice business model they have. You pay to feed their own animals that is one hell of an idea. I bet their overhead is cheaper than a zoo
@Kurteous100
@Kurteous100 6 ай бұрын
The overhead is actually more than double than it was a year ago, it is pretty high because of government I’ve regulations, maintenance etc.
