Here is a quick TDC tutorial for you. Every now and then, you really don't have the time to mess around with using the map to do your calculations. Here is a good way of doing it, as long as you are semi-close to a target.

At a range of around 1,000 meters or less the range entered in the TDC is not relevant as long as some sort of range is entered and does not need to be adjusted again. The magnification is showed on the left side being x 1.5 and x 6 magnification. In a mission in daylight you will be lucky to be able to keep your periscope up for a long length of time without being spotted and the target turning away from you so it would be good to see you use this method in one of your actual missions. I think you got mixed up with your torpedoes hit order as the slowest one would have hit last which is why you had a time delay and you thought you had a miss. Sometimes also when you are firing multiple torpedoes like that you can get misses because the ship slows down and is not where it should be for the torpedo to hit it. A shot close to the bow will certainly cause a large amount of water to enter the bulkhead slowing the ship and raising the stern as as the water is forced in. A good an enjoyable tutorial.

For those of you who are wondering, a super easy way to calculate the speed in knots once you have the length and time is just to divide length by time and multiply that by two. Basically (3600 / 1000) / 1.852 = 1.944 which is close enough to 2 for most purposes. My question is what do you do if the ship is not traveling directly 90 degrees to you?

I do the same even if he is not 90 degree... It will be less accurate, but still works, especially when you are semi close to them. Btw your speed calculation is what I use too.. I wish I knew it before I made this video tho LOL

BoomfunkMc thanks for the reply. For the distance (on your other video, using the tangent) what adjustment would you make if you are zoomed in? If they are too far out to get an accurate number of degrees

Great video. I like silent hunter 5 better than the new game Wolfpack. The ship details are much better in SH5.

Yeah I dont play much Wolfpack anymore.. Silent Hunter for the win when I want to play Submarines.. Btw, April 31st UBOAT comes out on Steam..

Does a tutorial about using periscope. Says its 1x and 4x, on the very periscope the whole time is written 1.5x and 6x respectively :)

Yeah I remember I saw it after the vid. But it really does not matter the numbers itself. Its about dividing up your scope in equal parts depending on of its zoomed in, or not

Is there a possibility to get the range to the target when you don’t have the mast higher? I tried to hit two ships from 100-1500m and all four torpedoes missed because they were to fast. I First thought I measured the speed wrong but it wasn’t that
