Here’s what you really need to know about cirrhosis.
Insulin Resistance: bit.ly/2UoZtrV

0:06 Cirrhosis symptoms
2:08 Potential causes of cirrhosis
4:00 Insulin resistance
4:58 What you can do
In this video, we're going to talk about cirrhosis and the early detection of silent liver cirrhosis.
What is cirrhosis?
Cirrhosis is scar tissue of the liver.
Categories of cirrhosis:
1. Compensated Cirrhosis - Where the body is compensating, there are no symptoms.
2. Decompensated Cirrhosis - This is where you start experiencing all of the symptoms.
Symptoms of cirrhosis:
• Spider Angioma - Red web-like veins
• Xanthomas - Small yellow cholesterol spots, sometimes around the eyelids
• Jaundice - The whites of the eyes and the skin become yellow
• Thin Skin - You can't make collagen anymore
• Ascites - A fluid-filled sac around the mid-section
• Gynecomastia - Breast tissue
• Clubbed fingernails
• Edema in the lower leg
• Red Palms
• Confusion
• Bruising
• Itchy skin
• Cognitive issues
What causes cirrhosis?
Cirrhosis of the liver starts with insulin resistance from:
• Alcohol
• High carb diets
• Junk food
• Sugar
• Frequent eating
• Drugs (legal or illegal)
• Viruses
Insulin resistance creates a lot of inflammation, which will also make insulin resistance worse. This situation may lead to a fatty liver, which can then lead to scar tissue in the liver that causes you to lose liver function, which is cirrhosis.
Insulin resistance is also associated with:
• Diabetes
• Metabolic syndrome
• Obesity
If you have symptoms of cirrhosis, you may want to start by fixing the insulin resistance.

22 years and 5 months sober. Was drinking 3 bottles of Vodka a day at my very lowest point. Admitted myself to hospital where I was successfully detoxed. A liver biopsy revealed a very fatty liver. Fortunately I had no sign of hepatitis or fibrosis and a few months later my liver was completely normal. Wished I sought some support as it was hard facing life without alcohol at the age of 30. I wish anyone who is battling alcohol dependency all the very best. 🙏🏼

You had a liver biopsy how was the test performed?
@chrisk7082
@chrisk7082 Жыл бұрын
@@myyoutubechannel3161 hello 👋 so they gave me a local anaesthetic then inserted a needle into my liver, just below the ribs on the right side of my abdomen. They took a sliver of liver and then it was sent to histopathology for examination under a microscope (I presume) the results showed that I had steatosis (basically liver fat) fortunately I had no inflammation or fibrosis. After 6 months of abstinence I had my liver function blood tests repeated and an ultrasound of my liver. They were completely normal as I had stopped drinking. The worst thing about the biopsy was having to lie still for 6 hours on my left side. This is to prevent any bleeding. That was done on Christmas Eve 1999. I got my results back on the 6th of January. I know a bit about the liver so was very relieved that they caught it early as once scarring occurs it’s permanent and can still progress to cirrhosis over a few years despite abstinence. Technology has now changed and there is a very quick non invasive ultrasound that can detect the density of your liver and if the result is out of the normal range then they will advise accordingly depending on how high the reading is. Hope this was useful.

If I knew 30 years ago what I know now, I might be healthy. When first told I had hep-c, the treatment was like Kemo or something. The Dr. told me there would be days I wouldn't be able to get out of bed because the treatment would be so bad. Also I was told there was no guarantee it would even work. I was working construction as a glazer. I couldn't take days off. couldn't feel anything wrong with me and thought I was healthy and strong as an ox. Then it got bad. By then they had the 8 week daily pill that cured the hep-c in less than 8 weeks. Even though I was cured of hep-c which I think I got at the hosp. when they had to operate on my broken compound fracture femur. That was back in 1980 before they checked the blood for diseases. But how do you prove that? Now I have outlived what the "specialist told me my time left. And I suffer all the time. Can't sleep, always in pain, can't eat hardly anything. Good luck to everyone!

Yeah liver issues is probably much worst than heart issues. Your liver takes a hell of a beating with sugar, fats, enzymes, etc and anything you consume in large amount could kill your liver. Don't do drugs, alcohol or smoke. These 3 things will kill your liver. Also don't eat too much fatty food every day like a quadruple double cheese burger with sugar soda everyday.

@Harry Notwoke BTW: as far as “apply for a new liver”? That’s a lie. Many people die waiting on a new liver after getting on the waiting list. And it’s hard enough to even get on the waiting list. There are so many factors that come into play via the national transplant list. Whoever said that was sadly misinformed. I guess he/she would rather die than clean up and start fresh.

Good thing I started Green tea (January 2019) ,kicked out MOST fruit (except raspberries, blueberries & blackberries),pasta/whole grain HIGH CARB foods,HIGH sugar foods (high fructose corn syrup, donuts, most breads),which lead to me doing keto/IF for almost 1 year(May 01 2022. Start date.) and HIIT that started Sept 30 by accident (Oct 18 was REAL start date. Went 2 weeks AHEAD...). Trying to reach 190 lbs by May 01 of this year...

I didn’t nothing of it so I ended up in the hospital. They didn’t know what it was the pain in my back and in my stomach again they did all kinds of tests. The only thing that came out was a fatty liver. Same thing my doctor has said, but they said all everything’s fine you just have a fatty liver again. They also didn’t tell me how serious this is so I just got online started googling stuff and found out it was serious so I made some appointments to my doctor in and I’m going to find a liver doctor to see what stage is my fatty liver. No one said you have a fatty liver you have to take care of it, so I don’t know how long I’ve had a fatty liver. I just went to the doctor because the pain in my back and my stomach was killing me, but these videos Dr. these are awesome. You explain it to the T thank you so much.

It even takes your ability to to fight allergic reactions by blocking the adrenal chemical epinephrine. pHARMakeia is using vac-seens and synthetic drugs to kill and maim. Get right with God asap....

I wish I had known about 2 or 3 years ago. I believe this is what caused my partner to pass away in 2019. She had been diagnosed with Cirrhosis, but didn't take it seriously enough, and passed within 3 months. :(

Dr. Eric Berg is very clearly one of if not the best Doctors period. I have been an eager student of his wisdom for a while now. It’s simply the method of explanation that resonates with audiences that is very appealing and excellent. Dr. Berg thank you 🙏🏼. You have changed my already healthy lifestyle and set me on a path of healthy living. I’m very appreciative for everything.

I'll be 45 in may and was diagnosed with cirrhosis at 39 a week before my 40th bday. I have about a dozen doctors n your presentation was more informative than what I've learned from them. They tell you what you should n shouldn't eat but never mention IR. I was prediabetic at first n gained a 100lb+ over 6 monthes from 192lbs to 310lbs. I exercised n ate healthy until I reversed the prediabetic A1C from 6.4 to 5.5.

My husband died almost 2 years ago from nonalcoholic cirrhosis and CHF from a diet high in fatty foods. Until his diagnosis neither of us had any idea you could get cirrhosis without being a drinker. Please get your liver enzymes checked regularly and frequently. He suffered a great deal before dying.

I don't understand, was he eating junk food all the time and drinking soda all the time? I mean, genetics are a factor of course, but I think you would really have to push it in the eating bad department to get this, right? An alcoholic gets this because they are constantly drinking and not giving the liver a break.

My mother had cirrhosis of liver we only found out she had it after she passed, from autopsy she did not drink or smoke, did not eat junk food either, was not a muncher, my aunt died of cirrhosis, no drinking, no junk food either. A concern for me given the history, have gone the I intermittent fasting and a bit of ketogenic diet to help w regeneration at cellular level and to give my body time to clean orgarns..I'm 109 pounds 4'11 mother was around the same..

@@elitav4238 Is it genetic? Wow, that's scary. I think I'm going to go get checked now because I've had my share of junk food.

Thank God I found you Dr Berg, I just love your videos. I've been suffering with numerous and increasing health issues but the GP wasn't much help. I hope it's not too late for my body to heal from the consequences of long term IR.

Great info. Thanks. I've read a lot of diet books. Actually I've read most of them. Lol. Always helps to hear and see rather than just read. Also, my library of books aids me in weaning out wrong information and brings me here for the real stuff.
