Club sold their 2 best players just 2 weeks before the first game of the season, had a budget of just £20m to buy new players, and from a 25 man squad there were 14 injured players. Owner wont spend but doesn't really want to sell. SUFC have lost their identity and are stuck in no-mans land. But every home game there's still 28-30 thousand attending. The fans deserve better.

It IS a shocking statement, I will explain why. All Sheffield Utd have to do is finish the season above 3 teams. That is all. It is not impossible at all with 12 games to go. It is absolutely disgraceful and this is not even the start. When he played my team, Wolves, he started saying that the players should be showcasing themselves because they could stay in the premier league even if Sheffield Utd went down. What kind of policy is that? Play well and don't bother trying not to get relegated? It is frankly bizarre. 12 games to go, 12 points from safety and it might not even be that after ffp points deductions kick in for other teams. Pull yourself together Sheffield Utd. Just because your manager has given up there is no need for you to.

As a Southampton fan I can see if we go up we will have a season like Burnley. Yes Sheff Utd got creamed last night but if everyone had played their A game it still would have been two or three nil to Arsenal. The reality of it all is football is dominated by money and also the big clubs rigging the game in their favour with five subs and 105 minute matches. The gulf is enourmous now and the Championship is now dominated by the clubs that went down the season before, the game itself is going wrong not just Sheffield United.

I totally agree. Especially the 5 dub rule is a shocker. Mind the gap there. And it's coming from a gooner. If you’ve paid your hard earned money to go and watch something, then become bored or annoyed by it…you can leave when you want to. I don’t support Sheffield at all but I can completely understand their fans leaving. At the end of the day it’s their own time they’re wasting by sitting there and watching the team get slapped further. It’s a Monday night, people have work in the morning, all optimism drained within a few minutes of the match, you may as well leave, get home to your Mrs and have a good night rather than watch that dross
@redmed10
@redmed10 2 ай бұрын
@@williamedwardsanti i suppose the prevailing spirit in a club comes from the top down. If prince abdullah can't be bothered this will filter down the club. It looks like it is not a very well run club. Other clubs in premier league seem to be able to adapt to their circumstances. But there is only so much talent out there and somebody has to be bottom. One of the things i would say to counteract what you say is that everybody including the fans need to use playing against more superior players as a learning experience. They could actually appreciate and enjoy the skills of the players the level of which they may never see again. But if you only go to a match to see your team win i can understand if you want to leave rather than see your team suffer. Let them suffer by themselves.

@@stevenkennell2890 Most fans turn up on matchday with some form of naive belief that they may see some effort or a bit of fight and a performance. If they went in half time say 2-0 down and then lost 6-0 they probably would stick around. But to be 5-0 down at half time is a joke at any level. You may as well go home and not watch the rest. I always judge a manager and a team on the first 45 minutes, that first 45 minutes is the gameplan, the second half things change and you adjust to the game. Which means they went into the game with a plan that was absolutely shattered after a few minutes. It was poor. People deserve to walk out

Once promoted the club should have invested more than what they have to provide Hecky with the best chance to survive year 1 back in. They didn't. So straight away United were under pressure. The fault lies with the owner not investing in recruitment of the right players at the right time for bigger investment probably more than ever the club had sanctioned before. But that is exactly what was required. Ultimately Hecky paid the price for that. They then bring back Wilder who has unfortunately inherited the exact same problem the club faces. All that said it is very fair to say that Hecky and Wilder are not premier class management. So realistically speaking United are a championship club untill the club is correctly geared for premier league football.

Football is one of very few sports where fan/supporters leave early and I don't understand it... The concept of supporting a club is because you love that club. Success doesn't come into it. Of course, every fan wants their club to be successful, but that surely shouldn't determine whether you support it or not.

Why do bigger clubs like Sheffield utd, Sunderland and Birmingham always seem to go for these hopeless managers who look like relics from a bygone age while genuinely small clubs like Luton and Bournemouth go for modern forward thinking young managers who are capable of giving much bigger teams a hard time and playing a standard of football fit for the premier league?

@@roboi2241 but he's a modern forward thinking young manager like you suggested....and is failing. Doesn't matter who for, he's had 4 or 5x as much investment in his squad than Sheff Utd or Luton and achieves the same level of performance as the 'hopeless' managers that you suggested Sheffield united go for. If Pep was managing Luton, Sheffield United or Burnley he isn't keeping any of them up but his sides plays some of the best football ever. There are many examples of it too, hence why most teams in a survival battle go for experienced managers; Dyche, Warnock, Hodgson, O'Neil, Bruce, Wilder, who all try to get blood from a stone and quite often succeed

@@MeMyselfMcAteeI didn't mention Kompany in my first comment, he didn't even come to mind. Forward thinking isn't having clueless tactics or trying to be like Pep. Sunderland and Birmingham, two clubs I consider sleeping giants keep appointing hopeless hasbeen or never were championship level managers. They don't even seem to consider how Bournemouth, Luton, now Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich have recruited managers. Leeds too, at least these clubs push for the PL and show a bit of imagination and ambition when appointing managers. Sheffield Utd got to the premier league again and are just as bad as they were in 2021 when Wilder was in charge for most of that season and they had 14 points when he was sacked in March that year.

Some of our players just aren't good enough and some don't deserve to pull the shirt on again. I found it rather severe to dismiss the manager who invested so much effort into securing your return to the premier league, especially when he clearly required support. It’s perplexing to then bring in a new manager who likely won’t receive adequate backing, especially one previously sacked by Middlesbrough. Football can be unpredictable; I recently learned that Harris was sacked at Gillingham but is now at Millwall. I have a fondness for Sheffield United, but letting go of your best player, much like Bournemouth did with O’Neil, will undoubtedly have repercussions, as the Blades are experiencing now.
