I needed to buy turtle neck sweater for winter, being confined, I shopped online , I added stuff to my cart, more than I needed, then left it for the next day, I came back and it had expired and guess what, aside from the sweater itself, I couldn't for the life of me remember the other things I'd put my cart! I was like " what am I doing? Do I really need these?" even the sweater I thought I*needed*...🧐. Then your video popped up 😅😆. Thanks for the reminder Christine

Love this video. I am older and sad to say just realizing the high cost of consumerism. I’m coming to realize the cost not only financially but spiritually which form memos the biggest price to pay. I’ve a long way to go but removing the excess from my life has already brought me greater peace and joy. Thank you for helping me in this journey and teaching me about sustainable living from something as simple as bringing a cloth bad to the store or making conscience clothing choices. You are an inspiration!

With clothes, I have the 1 in - 1 out rule. If I buy something, I need to get rid of something else. This prevents me from accumulating unnecessary stuff or things I don't truly love.

Definitely! (:

@@Clara-kv7xb I think it’s the opposite-it creates less waste. If I would just buy everything that’s on sale and somehow like it I would accumulate much more. This way I have to think a lot before deciding so it definitely minimises the purchases and therefore the waste.
@Clara-kv7xb3 жыл бұрын
@@olgacotaga13 of course I agree with you concerning this way of using the rule. Some people just use it as an excuse so they don't feel guilty about buying new unnecessary things. It depends how you interpret the rule I guess 🤷🏽♀️ nice to know someone doesn't exploit it haha

Newer to your channel and love your inspirations it's like slow living thru your videos. For me this is a process and journey as you learn new things about yourself along the way to minimal living. I was happy to see you have a dog in your lives, too often i see minimalists with no pets as they do add layer with care and items they need, but the love we receive is worth including them on this journey. Thanks for sharing.

They bring you joy! lf you can make another persons joy with your creativity. I’m thinking that the absolute best way! I keep “things” a grandma needs to fix those grandchildren’s woes in life. I can do without all those things but the smiles I can put back on a kids face far outweighs the “issue” of too many items. Even if I only touch the boxes 📦 once a year my kids are more important. How do you deal with dog poop in a zero waste lifestyle?
@simplybychristine3 жыл бұрын
If you have a backyard, you can technically compost if you have the right bacterial starter. Unfortunately I don't have the means to do so, so often do what I can to reduce plastic waste by making my own dog poop bags. All the info is on this video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/atl1nMujnKidqXk.html

I’ve been thinking about buying a laptop since my last was 15 years ago, I am contemplating if this is a need or a want. I don’t need it in my job, coz I’m a nurse(maybe someday)..
@jhowie3 жыл бұрын
you could get the best laptop you could buy now with a higher spec that can last for years and a brand with good warranty. Use it til it breaks or no longer get software updates. I find in the health industry it is essential for learning and occassional browsing plus a bit of gaming as stress reliever. It serves many purpose. Unless of course you already got an iPad for that purpose then a laptop may be redundant.

@simplybychristine. I have a question. Since you're a runner, do you get by with having one pair of running shoes and if so, how many miles do you usually put on them before recycling the shoe? It's a rare runner that only owns one pair of running shoes, kudos to you.
@simplybychristine3 жыл бұрын
Hello! It's tough to say - I used to switch them every 4 months since I would run at least 40 miles a week, but I don't run nearly as much any more. I've had my current pair since 2015, and waiting until my shins start to feel it and/or when the bottom of the soles have less traction. It'll probably be soon (:
@j.w.matney83903 жыл бұрын
@@simplybychristine Thanks for replying. It's the mid soles that wear out first as you probably know. ASICs has very tough outsoles and they seem to last longer than other brands. Good luck in the Trial of Miles.

How do I get rid of my book collection?🥺 I do not want to download them I do not want a kindle ...also what equipment do you use to film your videos getting overwhelmed with all the things you tubers recommend to buy
@simplybychristine3 жыл бұрын
There's no need to get rid of your books if you have an attachment to them, but you can start decluttering the ones you don't think you'll read again slowly. Or take photos of your favorite pages, write down your favorite quotes from them in a journal, then pass them on. I personally just use a Canon 5D Mark ii and a tripod!
