Unboxing/Review of the 4400PSI, 4.0GPM Simpson PS60843 after quick, initial use. I found that the build quality is robust and the Simpson engine appears to be reliable and powerful. Will it last long and be a consistent peer to the Honda engine version? Time will tell.

Thanks for the review. One tip on starting any gas washer. Remove the tip and use a piece of wire to lock the handle open. Water will flow and starting will be much easier. I always let the engine run for a couple of minutes at idle with water flowing (no tip) to let it warm up. Then you can increase rpm’s, close the trigger and attach the tip.

I got less than 5 hours on mine when the compression release on the head quit working - GB420-3 Chinese engine. (and yes, I release built up water pressure when starting) It tried to break my hand several times until finally the rope broke. I called Simpson - absolutely worthless support team. They told me to call a repair shop in my area. I saw in a video if the valves are out of adjustment the compression release also won't work. Will be looking for a Honda engine now.

I've used it to wash my vehicles, but I would definitely recommend lowering the pressure via the pressure regulator valve before doing so. I don't know how low that brings the PSI to, but at the higher settings it could easily damage cars. There is a dial that you can turn to increase/decrease how hard the pump is working. Minimum setting is what I'd use for car washing.

It’s holding up well, actually. I learned the hard way not to let old gas sit in it. Gunks up the carb and will cause it to stop/sputter until that’s resolved. Otherwise, solidly reliable.

@@littlebritches8631 only other thing I can think of is are you sure there's enough water coming in? Mr. Cut Lawn Care, LLC Yeah, that was my concern. I was wondering why this model was cheaper than the Simpson 4200 psi/4 gpm model, then I found out that the 4200 model has a Honda engine. Is the cheaper price ( and more psi) worth it in your opinion? I just bought the DeWalt 3800 psi/3.5 gpm with Honda engine, but was thinking about returning it after seeing this model, but the engine's giving me second thoughts. Your opinion would be appreciated.
@MrCutLawnCare
@MrCutLawnCare 6 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your use. If you are using it residentally (no more than about 4 times a month around your home) then I think that You will be fine with the Simpson engine under warranty. But if you are like me, putting 100-120 hours a year on your units, I would most definitely go with a Honda. My thing with Honda is that you KNOW you are getting proven quality that will last YEARS past the warranty.
@jasonl8326
@jasonl8326 6 жыл бұрын
Mr. Cut Lawn Care, LLC Thank you for response. As I plan to make pressure washing a part of my whole handyman business (hopefully a couple houses a week), I will be returning the DeWalt 3800 psi/3.5 gpm and upgrading to the DeWalt 4200psi/4gpm; it's only $200 more, still has Honda engine, and does 4 gpm (which I've read is the minimum gpm one needs if they plan on pressure washing in an efficient manner). I believe anything more than 4 gpm then you're looking at needing a reservoir, then a trailer, etc. Thanks again.
@jasonl8326
@jasonl8326 6 жыл бұрын
Philip David I bought the DeWalt 4200, which doesn't have electric start, so I'm afraid I won't be much help to you. From the video, it seems like he simply turns the key to "on" then goes through start up procedure, but I might be missing something. If you're having start up issues (which this model seems to have at times), I suggest looking up the model on Amazon and then read the q&a section; they usually provide in depth answers to a wide variety of questions from previous buyers, providing "real world" advice that you may not get from the manufacturer's website.
@MikeWebb-FlyingFinanciallyFree
@MikeWebb-FlyingFinanciallyFree 6 жыл бұрын
Unless I'm missing something glaring (which I don't think I am) the engine does NOT have electric start, as Mr. Cut Lawn Care suggested above. It's just a different way to have an engine kill switch, or the typical red on/off switch, as you mentioned. There is nothing in the manual about electric start because it doesn't have it, i believe.
