What can I do with my new Simpson Pressure Washer? | Garage Story

I got a Simpson Powershot 3600 PSI pressure washer for $350. Did I get a good deal or was it a rip off? This pressure washer appears to be new in the box, so I'm going to get it assembled and see what it can do! Pressure washing the algae off my concrete driveway should be a good test for it! But it also may turn into way more work than I was expecting!
Welcome to Garage Story!

The round surface cleaner is best on driveways , should do it in half the time. Like Whirlaway type 12-15 inch, being a smaller machine you can get the ones that fit to the end of your existing wand with the click fitting cost less as well.

It only got hard to pull because you didn't have the gun held open so you were building pressure. That is also the reason you had difficulties starting it, you were fighting the pump.

Same principle as having a pilot unloader valve on a gas powered compressor that you need to flip before starting to take the load off the engine. That pressure washer should last you a long time. I have a similar one made by MITM.

You have to squeeze the trigger on the pressure gun to relieve the pressure when starting it up. To make it start easier, use full choke and then turn off choke immediately. It should have started by the second pull. I've been using a pressure washer every week for almost 20 years. For the driveway, it's best to use a rotary nozzle.

@@garagestory They are all like that unless it's equipped with a pressure bypass valve for water pressure.

Hi, don't leave it running too long without pulling the trigger. You will cook the pump if you do, Cheers.

Wouldn’t there be a bypass that keeps the pump from cooking?

Glad you got it running. Now you need to purchase a turbo nozzle they are great accessory. I purchased one from Harbor Freight. Wow what a difference it makes. You just have to be careful when using it because it is very aggressive.

No…no, I didn’t, lol! This was more of a test for the pressure washer. If I do a project like that again I should probably look into getting one.

Thanks for sharing. Also, for consideration, pre treating the area assists in streamlining the process. May The Lord bless you

LOL, just buy a $30 turbo tip dude. Much faster than the 15° nozzle, 2 hours tops. If you have a bit more money, you can move at _warp speeds_ (45 minutes) with a decent 15" wide surface cleaner for around $70 or $80, with an 32" lance (the one that comes with it is way too short). Of course at that point, you could just start you own cleaning business, and pay for all of that stuff in maybe less than a dozen residential jobs, or one or two businesses. I've been eying a Simpson PS2338 for a bit now, but am wondering if it is overkill for personal use. But it has such a NICE warranty (3 years on the Honda GX200, 5 years on the pump, and 10 years on the frame). I'm probably going to spend another $150~ $200 on accessories like a gutter cleaner, a couple of longer lances, maybe a surface cleaner, and definitely a turbo tip for cleaning cement

You are much more knowledgeable about pressure washer attachments than I am! I haven’t really been around them a whole lot. If I do large spaces again, I probably should get turbo tip or surface cleaner like you mentioned. I think I’m primarily going to be using the pressure washer to clean mowers, cars, and equipment etc. Are there any special attachments for things like that that I should consider?

@@garagestory I've been doing a lot of research the last few weeks, whilst I eyeball getting that Simpson pressure washer I mentioned. My old POS Karcher came with a turbo tip, which is really needed with those lower powered (1750 PSI) units for cleaning cement. I seen some neat attachments on Temu that will let you clean the underside of your vehicle. You might look at a foam cannon for washing cars. I guess they are a bit better than the soap head nozzle.

Dude, make your life easy. Squeeze the trigger so water flows when pulling. That thing is a 1 pull start all day every day when you have the water flowing. One, maybe 2 pulls max with choke then shut that off so you don't flood it.
