Using Houdini to create an ocean for Benchy and some voronoi supports to save material. Also, a simple fluid simulation for good measure. Let me know what you think in the comments. (music: bensound.com)

That‘s a serious approach to design a realistic ocean scenery - applause! 🤩

Really smart and interesting.. I like a good cad ffw.. a lot of creators shy from it but it's really like looking behind the curtains of a creative process.. very nice!

I love the simulation part, but was using voronoi for the support structure a design choice? Because I think it's far from ideal - it's got a lot of very horizontal struts that are hard to print with SLA because they would technically need some supports of their own. I think I can see some resulting failures in the finished print. A tree-like structure would probably be beter, don't you think?

The voronoi was just an idea, it doesn't really matter all that much. It actually prints quite well. Even if some parts are horizontal, these bridges are fairly short. The print failure is a result of the angle I printed it at. The forces were too strong and pulled part of the print off the plate. Should have printed it at an angle but did not want to wait the extra time it would have required.

hey i want to get me a sla printer but i would like to create a few models first... i know a little bit about google scetch up, but i think for figures its not soo good... wich programm would you recommend for simple figures? for example a naked muscle guy LOL

You could try Blender for polygonal modeling or even rudimentary subds. Organic, free-style modeling is easiest in software like zbrush or mudbox but they are also quite expensive. If you have a vr rig you try Medium.

Relaxing video. For someone never saw the programm or designed any models it is impossible to follow your thougts and design steps. Mb some captions or comments would help.
@fhuable4 жыл бұрын
You're right, it does assume some knowledge of Houdini. Optional captions might be the way to go.

@@fhuable I'm not surprised! I went to college with PJ and always thought of him as a real dreamer as he wanted to make movies and would have said he'd be the one voted less likely to succeed. Boy was I wrong!
