SAF's greatest strength is his 13 Prem titles. He played 4 and lost 2 UEFA CL titles. There are managers with a way better European record so if that's how you count success, Ancelotti is your man. THE Champions Leagues specialist. But as far as the league he managed in, winning 13 Premiership titles, gaining two CL titles, and winning the FA and English Cup multiple times, SAF has the edge. Let's also not forget his accomplishments with Aberdeen. That's another miracle in itself. The guy could coach.

I usually consider people who achieved success in only one club and country, in a different bracket than those who ventured in different places. Like Ferguson, Messi, Steven Gerard, Paolo Maldini, Totti, etc have certainly, in their own right, engraved their names as legends in the history of the sport. However, those who ventured into different clubs and countries, equally achieving great success, entailed bigger challenges. Ancelotti, Mourinho, CR7, Zlatan, Ronaldo Fenómeno, etc.. leaving their comfort zone without fear, into different cultures, new language, new teammates whom always need time to gel and adapt under different coaches, system and gameplay,… and yet still able to lift trophies and beat records. For these reasons (and more) I rate Ancelotti higher than Ferguson.
