Thank you for this wonderful “being together”. I love the traditional belt, the neck warmer, the sweet dogs, the grow house, the fluffy plant which is slowly getting healthy again, Arne’s searching for words and saying sweet Norwegian words, Carlos translating, Arne trying to find ancestors in Brooklyn, Carlos mom popping the bubble wraps... See you on Sunday, much love from Istanbul ♥️

@@roli3342 Yes, I thought it looks remarkable like the fingerwoven sashes of native american culture. I can't see the difference actually, aside from the number of threads used. It's so fascinating about weaving, that alike practices originated in cultures that are far removed from each other.

I was at my lys yesterday, browsing the Felted Tweed and out of the blue the shopkeeper asked me "are you doing The Dicky from Arne & Carlos?" She already had one customer an hour earlier buying what she needed to do your dicky pattern! We had a great chat talking about this channel and how neither of us are enthusiastic colour-work knitters - but that we've both been giving it a try since subscribing. I have just finished my 7th block - and had fun trying out your layered colourwork technique on the Cat. Meanwhile, I recently bought the pattern for Trym, which will be my first ever large project with any colourwork element, but I'm sure I can do it! Thanks, as always for all the inspiration 😊

My mother was a hoarder of sugar. We lived in a small town, and the grocery store had an excellent sale on white granulated sugar, but limited to 4 bags of sugar per purchase. I happened to work in an office at the corner down from our house, the grocery store was just around the corner. My desk was by the window facing the street. I watched my mother and father taking turns walking back and forth to the grocery store so she could get as much sugar as she could. I think they ended up with 20 bags of sugar! She baked a lot, but I think some of those bags turned rock hard before she got to use them. 😂

Back in the late 1950’s, when I was 8 or 9 years old, we did a similar weaving technique in summer camp using flat plastic coated cotton fibers. Mostly, it was three to six strands at a time, so not nearly as elegant or intricate as your beautiful garters, but watching you brought back the memory of my first exposure to weaving and braiding. I’m looking forward to your tutorial to perhaps give this a try.

Another really fun episode! I love the dicky designs - I think it might not be cold enough where I live for a dicky but I still want this pattern haha. It was also really interesting to see the progress in your garter bands as you've each become more skilled in the new craft. Carlos: your final design with the black yarn is really wonderful. I'm not sure if it would be possible but if you ever had the opportunity to film anything in the Arts & Crafts atelier that would be very interesting too.

In far north central WI we had 5 inches of snow last night and more tomorrow. I usually knit while watching your Wednesday podcasts. Love the dickeys, a book of designs would be wonderful for those of us who don’t design! I mentioned my daughter had positive Covid test, quarantined in my weaving studio, symptoms began the next day. Arne´s first garter band looks like it belongs to a chanel costume - I think it´s super beautiful. But of cause I understand you wanted it to look more traditional. I enjoy sitting and knitting with you - this is always so much fun.
