What I love about your recipes is that you always give us alternatives for cooking things, so we don't have to spend money and clutter our kitchens with specific gadgets for this or that kind of cooking. You can always use what you already have. ;)

Luli Nasser Yeah we don't like to spend money on thing that we'll only use every now and then either. Happy to hear that you find our alternative suggestions helpful :)

Thank you soo much for this recipe! I live in Spain and I did it for the first time today for Sunday lunch and everyone loved it at home. I used a prepared dough made for "empanadillas" that you can find in the supermarket, because I can't find Won Ton, and it worked wonderful...Muchas gracias!

Fantastic!! Re: the wrapper, the best way make sure it stays in place is to be quite firm when you're pressing the filling into the nooks and crannies (around 3:33 in the video). Ideally the filling will have contact with all the surfaces of the wrapper. If you give it another go and have the same problem, just flick us a photo and we'll see if we can help! x

It's a neat wee trick isn't it! We have mum to thank for that one. Re: the sauce, siu mai are traditionally eaten without a dipping sauce. This way the 'ching tem' (literally, pure and sweet) pork flavour can really shine through without being overpowered :)

Thanks for your kind words! Not 100% sure what you mean re: BBQ... if you mean cooking them on the BBQ then we've never done it before! But if you just mean keeping them overnight to serve at a BBQ the next day then yep, it should be fine, though they may sag and lose their shape a little. If you are storing them in the fridge, make sure you keep them covered because the wrappers dry out really easily :)

Ground pork would work, and would be very convenient too! We prefer to chop up loin though because it is not quite as fine as ground pork, giving it better bite and texture :) P.S. Amy is quite proud of the snowflake! x

The Dumpling Sisters you guys are so fun.. quick question, i just found gyoza wrapper here where i live, do you think it's ok to use?
@TheDumplingSisters9 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The only difference between wonton and gyoza wrappers is that wonton wrappers contain egg, whereas gyoza wrappers only have flour and water. You won't notice a huge difference in the final result, except that gyoza wrappers tend to be about twice as thick as wonton wrappers so you'll end up with a higher wrapper to filling ratio. If you find yourself with any leftover gyoza wrappers you could try our potsticker recipe! thedumplingsisters.com/2014/01/31/perfect-potsticker-dumplings-for-food-tube/ We make the wrappers ourselves in the video, but they are the same as gyoza wrappers. Good luck and do let us know how you get on! A&Jx

Yes absolutely! Freeze them once they're wrapped (but not cooked) in a single layer before transferring them to a bag or tupperware. This way they won't stick together. They should be okay for around 3 months :)
