Manchester United's 7-0 hammering at the hands of their rivals has been all anyone can speak about recently in the football world. The jokes towards the Red Devils have been endless and no United fan has come out of it unscathed. Many were angry and looking for an outlet for all the emotions they had after the defeat. A section of United fans may have found a whole new reason to blame their loss on- Wout Weghorst.
The Dutch striker was seen touching the Anfield sign before the game and this has driven fans into a frenzy. Anyone who knows the sign's history would tell you that it was a bad idea from the start. Weghorst spoke about the incident later trying to clarify why he did it, turns out he was trying to stop his national team captain, Virgil Van Dijk, from touching the sign to wind him up before the game. Looks like the plan didn't go quite according to plan.
Even when Jurgen Klopp became manager of Liverpool back in 2015, he warned his players about touching the Anfield sign before winning a trophy. Weird right?

I hope Klopp never leaves Liverpool. As a Real Madrid fan I like my team thrashing Liverpool match after match but I also feel bad for him as I support Liverpool in the Premier league. The Ramos tackle upon Salah was inhumane, I really felt terrible for the team that night even though I was full of joy as Real Madrid won yet another UCL. The 7 goal thrashing they did to United was terrific. I hope Liverpool at least finishes in a Champions league position this season.

Shanks and Paisley let the players touch it and I don't think it's right for the team to be stopped. That's our sign before you go out to the fans and touch it to show that it's important to be a traditional thing
