I have been a therapist since 2005. I became an instructor in 2007 and one of the things I would tell my students that for every 20 massages they give, it is good to get one and to trade out with a friend. Also Once they graduated and were on their own, get a massage at least once a month.

The best advice .. Healers and carers need healing and care too as well as ensure your own exercise, hydration, nutrition and daily moment as part of your practice in addition to some time out to keep your energy balanced ... absolutely agree one of the truest lessons to those in the healing, movement, care and people field of practice is take care of you without a healthy you you are not in good form to do what you were born to do and love sharing.

Brilliant personal and realistic insights into the field of people, healing, movement and care practice . Love that you emphasize not being afraid of all the human form.. I've worked in the care field for 95% of my 50 years of life and it still amazes me how many who work in this field have no concept of the human form and are super inner afraid and so biase of all the human forms.. Absolutely great that you emphasize the importance of careing for you too.. this should be for most in your daily practice. Do you have any more videos on self promotion too??.. it's all good to know you have genuine desire for delivering therapeutic therapies and want to share your love and enjoyment of healthing, careing, movement and therapeutic modalities but to make a living out of it is a key aspect to continuing motivation to practice.. would really like to hear back from you and see some videos on this part of this field of practice too.. Your passion and genuine interest in this field of practice really comes through in your inner and outer presence and presentation manner.. Thank you so much for sharing.. keep up the great work.. 👍😊👍

So I'm starting over and taking on a new career after being a stay at home mom for a while. I KNOW that being an LMT is what I want to do and I have a vision for it. My question is... I'm a small framed woman. I'm 5'1", 125 lbs and I'm just overall petite. Have you encountered any therapists like this and do they have many hurdles to overcome because of their size? I am very active and I do workout a lot so I'm hoping that it won't be too much of a problem. Thanks for any input you can give me.

Gerry Chiu Hey man, don't think much at the negative aspect of being a male therapist. As a male therapist, I would say work on appearance since that's what the number one way people "pick" you to work on them. And just applify those skills. If you have good skills and as long as one person gives you a chance it will cause a chain where that person will tell someone else and so on. Remember people have their preferences, and do not let it bother you, just work with your tools to make the best of what you can do!
@Shinobi33

@@pedrozavala1663 yea you're absolutely right. Apperance is important. Self promotion is important. But having a diversified skillset is huge. People expect more from male therapist. As my female instructor told me in school, Guys study up. But once you do you'll do well.

Hey Spencer, I need some advice. Almost everyday when I get home from work at around 4pm (I begin at wake up around 5 am to start at 7:30am my job is computer work) . I have dinner and then after an hour I start feeling very sleepy ,tired, and not willing to do much is the anyway that you can think of to avoid that I can stay somewhat active at night without drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks that can mess up my sleep? Thank you !

Im in colledge at the moment and i confidently say no however it also depends on what you scope of practise is, if you are for egsample working with alot of competative strength athletes (powerlifters body builders) the job may require more physical strength to work on larger muscle tissues in comparison to working as a general remedial therapist. Depending on where you are there is also avenues to get into things like dry needling and spa therapy. you will be tested on the strength of your wrist flexors and extensors. I dont have a issues as i have had a background in metal fabrication thay have served me well but I have peers who have to invest more energy on the matter
