These guys have some special expert level skills of making lead acid battery cell plates.
In this small factory these hard working guys are producing very good quality 12 volts battery cell plates.
They are working with very limited sources but definitely they are backbone of the local battery manufacturing industry.
The whole process of these cell plates casting is worth watching.

Metallic lead cast into grids. Probably from old battery grids. Old battery plate material a mix of sponge lead lead dioxide and lead sulfate. Kerosene added and roasted to make mainly lead oxide yellow PbO and red lead Pb3O4 make an orange mixture. Ground and dilute sulfuric acid added to make a paste. Spread on plates let cure. Sulfric acid makes lead sulfate which binds plates together. Then given intial forming charge to make lead dioxide and sponge lead plates

what i appreciate and admire about these "cottage builders" is that they have the true recipe for modern technology. Its only a few steps between this and a packaged sophisticated industry and product . Only problem here is that they sacrifice their health and life for this know how

They may have less health risk, than modern factory worker. Since they work on open air all toxic lead vapors are blown away with hot air.

incredible. thank you for this video. no one else seems to have documented this technique like you have. i feel bad for these workers. they are poisoning themselves. they will suffer from all this lead dust. but it's an amazing craft. hopefully a different chemical battery can be developed that is non-toxic and can be handled safely.

There is not a single company working in the manufacture of batteries. 80% of the people here do not have access to electricity, so the only source of electricity is solar energy and batteries. The prices of expired batteries, for example. Battery, 12 volt, 200 amp, weight 50 kg, sold for 31.14 dollars.

So I work in a battery factory that makes lead acid batteries - granted, I’m in America so the process is a bit more sophisticated and we have so much PPE it’s not even funny. But I’d be shocked if every single one of those people doesn’t have a deadly - or at least dangerous - amount of lead in their blood.

@@scottfirman That's exactly why I said 5 specifically, BUT I'm using one now manufactured in 2016 and it still holds a 13 volt charge then powering 75 watts of light per night for days. I think it's because I "babied" it only charging it with 1.75 amps @ 13.5 volts.

I think I got a lifetime's exposure to lead just watching the guy shovel the lead oxide at 6:13. Life is cheap in some countries. I watched the nicely dressed guy start the fire on the wet scrap and then the guy with the holes in his clothes took over when the dust was being made. Cough cough

It’s just a machined mold pattern which probably cannot be bought because normally people don’t exactly manufacture lead acid batteries in their back yards. If you want one, you will have to have both halves machined for you.
