Do you believe those kids asked for the products just out of nowhere ? Most of the parents put their kids in this, not the other way around. So they can say no but since they are the ones who put their kids in, they cannot say no. They create channel and make their kids involve because that sells more, that makes more views so more money. We are seeing more and more parents using their kids for videos.

Most parents probably aren’t that aware. If my kid asked to buy some lotion or face cream, I’m not going to be too concerned about it. And if they’re tweens, I’m probably just handing them some money to spend at the mall/store with their friends.

I hold the parents responsible rather than the companies. Parents permit social media to influence the upbringing of their children. It is absurd.

Why? Why not the companies? Why can't they just label its not safe and tell the shops not to sale the kids. They're the ones who's profiting off of these kids. Even if the parents keep away the social media from the kids they can always learn from the other kids in the school.

Because if kids are not allowed to buy it for themselves, they're gonna make an adult buy it for them. It's nothing new, it's been happening for years. Like underage kids buying alcohol and vapes. Companies and stores can only advice them, they can never stop them. It's upto the parents to raise their child and teach them what's right and wrong.

⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠@@shahidakhanam3449while brands can recommend that children don’t use their products, because they’re not a protected substance (like alcohol) or something determined by a United body to be inappropriate (such as a rated R movie), it would be age discrimination for a store employee to not allow a child to buy it. They could then get arrested and lose their job, depending on the severity. They would have to get a proper age restriction on it, which I’ll be honest, I don’t know how difficult it is to do so, but then not doing that would be profit based, yes. At the moment though, it’s much easier to tell parents to pay attention to their kids, which they should be doing, because rolling out a change like that would take a while

Idk I was one of the tweens who actually NEEDED better skincare because I developed so early. I don’t think 10-13 is necessarily as young as we think, I definitely had “adult” skin concerns like acne, dryness, and sun protection. The pharmaceuticals I was put on (and improperly instructed on) were much harsher than these over the counter products.

Do you guys not understand that us teenagers have hormonal skin? A lot of us deal with Acne, dryness, and hyperpigmentation. My skin looked horrible before I started using skincare products, I had tiny little bumps and blemishes on my face but once I got in to skincare… my skin was glass

That’s not true. For example, moisturizer, acne cream, etc., are often beneficial. Most teens experience acne and other skin problems, and just soap and sunscreen isn’t a one-size-fits-all skincare regimen.

So ur saying teens, but it’s really the younger kids. At 14, 16, 18 you a girl needs skin cream for certain times of the month and when pimples come up. 11 year olds mostly still have perfect skin. But as a teen I understand that some of my pears need creams, or like my older sisters use cream too.

@@Loverera2023 my comment was really just saying that if you are informed and care about skincare, sunscreen should be a top priority. Preventing skin damage from sun exposure is gonna be the best lesson you can teach your kids. Kids do not need to be using 15 products on their faces. All people should use what is geared towards your age demographic and what is needed for your skin type and issues. As parents it is our job to stay informed and be smart consumers for our kids well being.

@@apara2005 majority of them don’t though . And should start with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer like cetaphil or cerave. I was a 9yo with acne. You still have to fine an age appropriate skin solution.

When I had problem skin as a teenager at 13 I used an acne cleanser, moisturizer with spf 15 and spot acne treatment for break outs and exfoliated my skin once every 2 weeks. These kids are going to damage their skin. I’m 44 and people think I look 29. I use a cleanser and a moisturizer with spf 30. Occasionally I use masks on my skin when it’s dry in the winter. Those parents aren’t doing their job and saying no. And considering you keep defending this sort of behavior beneath other peoples comments makes me think you’re a child yourself.

@@apara2005I tried a skincare routine recommended for girls with extreme oily skin like me, and i noticed it made me look dry, stressed, crusty and it made me look older. I stopped using it for a week, my plump, oily, but youthful looking face was back. I guess the oil makes my face look less tight and more soft

Why the hell would a nine year old even need a skin care routine?! When I was nine I cared more about playing in the dirt with my brothers. The first time I ever used any skin care products was when I was around 15 or so and tried some acne treatment for my pimples. Now in my late twenties my skin looks fine as it is. This is a crazy time to be alive 💀

@@surlespasdondine Skin care isn't a need. It's a luxurious hobby, not like eating, sleeping, going to school, ... She doesn't need a cleanser, however if you wanna help her out taking care of her skin, gonna have to be careful about which one you pick. I would start focusing on a sunscreen though...

It shouldn’t be for 16 year olds usually either. Beauty stores are supposed to patronaged by 30 or 40 year olds and older not kids. Even people 16-18 are still kids/children and to some extent 20 year olds are still kids or young adults or just barely adults. People under 25 generally have no need to even set foot in beauty stores

@@isabellaereshki I disagree with you on 16+ years old. 16 years old are definitely old enough to start playing with makeup as a means of self expression if they desire. Plus many teenagers and young adults under 35 struggle with acne or other skin conditions that a skincare routine can help with. There's also something to be said for developing a skincare routine when you're young so those habits will carry on with you as you get older. It's absolutely ridiculous that 9 years old or younger have these multiple steps routine and I definitely blame the parents, but I don't think teaching a kid that they need to wash their face twice a day and use sunscreen in the morning is a bad thing.

This is insane. These kids are still developing, why would they need anything outside of lipgloss and sunscreen. I used to love Claire's as a little girl, they are what is acceptable for little girls. Like what is the world coming to? And this is a case of "just because you have the money, you don't need to spend it". Sephora and Ulta is expensive AF!

It’s absolutely wild. Twenty somethings are injecting Botox 😮 because they think it’s necessary to prevent movement in their faces which could cause *GASP* fine lines!!! I’m saddened that the worst thing society tells women we could be is visibly aged or fat..Even more sad that we started believing that and working our asses off to avoid it..we spend our money, our time and our mental resources on trying to remain young and attractive when we could be enjoying much fuller, happier lives.

I’m in my early 30s and just now started to really make sure to wear moisturizer everyday and have learned to treat acne correctly. I have pretty healthy skin and have been told I look like I’m in my early 20s so I haven’t really thought about it much. Those fine lines are starting to show now though.

She did the right thing, they saw something on social media, they asked for it, she didn't say yes right away but rather she investigated and gave her two products that dermatologists recommend for skin care appropriate to their age

First of all, the parents have to do with it a lot but not ALWAYS! In my community this never happens. But dragging teens who need creams for their skin doesn’t make any sense. A 10 year old should not be using it to most opinions but who am I to judge. As a teen who only uses water, soap, and pimple patches I know and understand that some people need this at certain times if the month. So this is made for teens. Ex. 14+

It's good that these brands are being responsible and making these disclaimers. And, while brands can be transparent, it is on these children's parents/guardians to do the research and make sure that the kid is being safe!

I was 15 when I was given proactive. A 3 step process that kept my skin clearer then a contact lense. Thats it. To think literal kids are using 9 steps is a special kind of unnecessary. I have toddlers and I have goals to teach them skincare can be great but its a responsibility. This is definitely the parents fault. Just irresponsible and its giving 'let me throw money at them so they can leave me alone'. I remember the day I realized things were getting out of hand with preteens when a girl was saying a sephora employee got verbally assaulted by a underage girl for recommending she shouldn't use retinol. I didn't try retinol till I was 30 due to the fear of destroying my skin. These are chemicals. We only have the one skin. Our kids don't have enough sense to know their being bombarded with ads. Its up to the parents.

Proactive is pretty heavy duty though. I used it in my 30s and when I would toss the wet face cloth into the hamper it would bleach anything that it touched because the chemicals in the face wash were so strong. And I felt so dumb it took me a long time to figure out how my clothes were getting bleached in the laundry when I didn’t actually use bleach. It was the proactive

I am 40. I am still skeptical of using retinol! I have never had to use it. I stick to my basic; cleanser, serum, sunscreen, lotion, facial massage, proper diet and exercise.

Whatever happened to the glitter rollers and smackers chapstick from the 90s and early 2000s? That's what I remember as a young kid and fun! They came in fun smells like blue raspberry and were designed more for kids (I am pretty sure). I know a lot of these kids buy Drunk Elephant because of their colorful packaging, but they have no idea what anything that they pick up actually does.

Genzie here, and when I was a kid the most my mom would allow me to have was a moisturizer and lipgloss from like Justice or something. I didn’t start wearing makeup and following a skincare routine until I turn 16. Even now I wear minimal makeup and keep my routine pretty basic. I’m not a parent, but I could never imagine allowing my child to do this to themselves with products that they don’t even need and are probably harming them in the long run.

I started skincare around 13 but it was mostly very basic products for my worsening acne. We also consulted a dermatologist who recommended me basic things such as cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, that’s all I was doing until around 15-16 when my acne got much worse. Even though I was doing everything right, my dermatologist said we needed more medical intervention, so that’s when I finally got on the retinols to keep my skin at bay. I’ve been using retinols for almost about 10 years now just to repair damage done by the acne at this point, but don’t recommend anything heavy like that to kids unless it’s under the direction of a medical professional. They know what they’re doing, and we really don’t know better when we are that young. About to start anti-aging soon though lol! Gonna hit the big 3-0 in about 6 years 😂

I only got acne when I was 14-15. Back then (2009-2010) our skincare products were harsh and had lots of alcohol making our skin dry and more prone to acne. These teens are lucky that skincare products are milder these days. However, washing your face with any soap, putting moisturizer and sunblock on your skin is great already. Don’t introduce any products on your skin that might cause irritation.

Kids that young do not need “skincare routines”. Maybe for some, acne or other dermatological treatments, but not the different chemical mixtures! Kids faces are very cute and natural and should not be experimented with. :)

This is absurd. I'm 41 and I don't even have this kind of routine (my skin looks great, by the way...no wrinkles or spots...it's about hydration and sun protection more than products). Kids should not be worried about this. Teach them about moisturizing and sun protection! That's all they need at that age.

My daughter is 11. She has seen videos on tik tok and she wanted to do the same. This year I started explaining to her to think for herself and make wise decisions. Of course I'm helping with the journey but point is she doesn't have to do whatever everyone is doing. Think make choices. I'm guiding with the idea it will eventually click.

Some of these modern day parents are seriously off their rockers. I didn't even use Noxzema until 13. 10 steps skincare on baby skin? Ridiculous! Crying shame these companies even have to put such disclaimers out here.

I’m 12, and obviously my parents say I don’t need a skincare rountine. And I get that. But my mom bought me and hylaronic acid from the ordinary. And trust me, it did nothing to my skin. If u want to have nice glowy skin just wash ur face with cold water in the morning and warm in the night. U will see a huge huge difference. U don’t need those fun products just because of how they look. My skincare routine is only 3 steps. (And I don’t even have and cleanser so I wash my face first properly) then I just apply a few drops of hylaronic acid, then with mosturizer then with my spf 30. That’s it, it’s a simple skincare routine. And there also many ways to do do it to like u can do diy face masks . From just using homemade spices. Fruts veggies, all those sorts are also part of a skincare routine too!

what y’all don’t realize is it’s already too late for the masses. I’m 22 and social media/the internet influenced my generation heavily but the internet is not only influencing but literally raising Gen Alpha. telling them what to think and feel and that value lies in very superficial things. try taking a phone or IPad away from these kids and they’ll scream and cry and most parents seem to just give in these days because they don’t even recognize the harm and think their kids will ‘hate them’ because all their other friends have them. be very careful, yes social media is an issue but bad parenting is the problem that allows kids to be affected. genuinely ask yourself if what is online is really suited for kids. some of the most horrific and darkest sides of humanity I’ve seen on Twitter TikTok and other platforms that i no longer even give time to. on a very serious note their are countless groomers online that not even teenagers are equipped to deal with much less pre adolescent children who should be practicing reading or writing which is indeed on the decline according to multiple studies. if you have kids it’s time to really take responsibility.

I’m 24 and I’ve struggled with oily skin and black heads since I was 15. I tried the sacylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, natural vegetable cleansers, retinol, everything they recommended to me! Even the natural vegetable cleanser was making my skin look crusty and wrinkly. Most of the products would only dry me out for an hour and than an hour later my oil would be back. I noticed though, when I follow a regular skincare routine, even with gentle cleaners only once a day, I’ve noticed my skin looks dry, crusty, stressed, and wrinkly. When I don’t wash my face and it only gets washed in my shower once a day, my skin looks youthful and elastic and soft. I guess the oils keep my face skin looking soft and youthful. It smooths out the wrinkles. I used to hate having a greasy face but now I don’t care. I’d rather have a greasy, soft and youthful face than a dry, crusty, and older looking one. Maybe I haven’t found the right balance for my skin, but I don’t got time for that!

what the companies need to do is print a warning label on the product indicating it is not for children under a certain age. it’d help with liability when these kids’ skin goes to hell or they have a horrific reaction. then their parents won’t be able to pursue any legitimate action from the companies in question

I appreciate the use of a basic/ non irritant wash, moisturizer and sunscreen for every age (I would buy these kind of products for my kids if I was a mom)! Brands such as Cerave, Cetaphil, Bioderma and Hada Labo do such a great job with basic and gentle products! But retinol??? Glycolic acid?? Drunk Elephant serums with high percentage of actives they still have no age to use? Glow Recipe products with fragrance that might irritate even adult skin? No way 😂😂

You know what my skin care routine was.. bar of soap and water.. All that crud skin care just ages your skin.. best thing is just little bit of sunscreen and plain old moisturizer in the winter.. Honestly, I rarely got pimps as a teen (because I didn't clog my pores with trendy junk.. and by my twenties, people thought I was so much younger than I was.. unlike a friend who aged her skin with tons of makeup in high school (she looks un natural now if she doesn't put something on.. that stuff stripped away her true beauty)

I’m a 10 year old and all I’m allowed to use is sdj and laneige (lip balms) and summer Fridays 😭 I might be allowed to use a bubble moisturizer when I’m done with my dermatologist-recommended moisturizer, if the dermatologist lets me. I’m starting to get bumps on my face so all I need is just water and a bit of moisturizer! 💗

things from sephora that is appropriate for gen- alphas to use: Bubble Slam Dunk Moisturiser Sol De Janeiro (Any thing from that brand) Sephora branded lip balm Dior Lip Gloss/ Any other Lipgloss i’m not very sure if bubble moisturiser is okay for tweens to use but i think it is because i saw a youtube video saying the things that tweens in sephora can wear and is fine for their skin. i just know that lip gloss, body wash, perfume, lip balm, lotion is okay to use for kids that are the age of 10-14 and over because it’s no harm.

These parents are aware of what's going on. They either encourage and film them for the bag or don't care. It's not fair to the girls, and all these parents are gonna be in shock when their kids look like lizards by the time they're 25 and they don't talk to them anymore.

One concern I have is this focus on skin becoming a majar point of bullying and self esteem issues once they enter puberty. Things like hormonal acne can not be treated with store bought products.

I’m 37 & I don’t even have a ten step routine lol. While learning about skin care IS important, basics are the way to go. Keeping skin properly cleansed, moisturized & protected in the sun are the main things. One thing I wish I knew as a kid was the sun doesn’t discriminate. We were taught the myth that Black people don’t burn. We do, we just don’t turn red.

Secondly, as a teacher I tell you that many children consume content from social media because their parents lend them their cell phones where they have Tik Tok, Instagram, KZfaq and Twitter accounts.

My daughter got super excited about skin care in middle school but it was Proactive as she started getting acne around age 12. Kids usually are in a hurry to grow up until they get there. My daughter thinks she was crazy back then. Now she has to cook her own food, wash her own dishes, buy her own groceries and toilet paper.
