Do you think you could make a video using the molds for Cement or plaster of Paris?

Can you use plaster of Paris? I want to do the outside of my fireplace but if it gets hot it will melt the latex and the phone might catch on fire

Thank you for the tutorial, it's much appreciated (just wish you had shot the video horizontally vs portrait for better viewing) Do you happen to know if this co you suggest sales full skulls? I want to start making skulls to paint as Dead of the Dead sugar skulls. Again, thanks a ton for sharing

Hello, you are welcome! Are you seeking a full skull mold or are you asking how much each casted skull might sell for?

@@PacificMoldDesign Thank you for getting back to me, I appreciate it. I'm looking for the full skull mold. I went to your webpage, the full skull that you have is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I'm brand new to this whole art thing. (I used to be half decent...clear back in my high school days) I was in a bad accident when hit by someone texting and driving and unfortunately permanently disabled. Was/am looking to try to do art projects to focus on something other than pain. But with being on disability, I can't afford to spend my money on such "luxuries"....maybe some day

I just received my 2 skull molds, they came with no directions/tips at all, and i cant wait to start making some! I have a question about using the latex vs just wax as a release agent, the latex seems like an extra step, why do it at all
@PacificMoldDesign

Our phone, email and all forms of messenger are available to you. Instruction manuals are useless when you consider the many ways to approach a project. What material are you wanting to cast? I assume foam? If this is the case, please do a partial test. ABS is rather porous and foam tends to stick to the molds.

Hi thanks for your replies, I bought the 2 part fence post foam and the bond builder latex shown in this video, I was unable to find any wax release, yours is sold out, which is the route I wanted to take, seemed like the latex was a more time consuming step, is there pros to using latex vs wax? Are they both paintable afterwards

How many latex shells do you get out of that jar?

If I wanted to do a permanent wall, which is going to be an outdoor wall, would you recommend these foams?
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign 3 жыл бұрын
Each foam manufacturer has a different rating for outdoor use. I would imagine a cement based product would be much more suitable.

Thing is latex doesn't hold up to uv light etc.... just look at elastic bands left out in the sun....

The Great Stuff is really tacky. If you must try it, use a carnauba "wax"...a few layers.

i don't get it, you used latex and then when you pulled them out off the plastic there was no latex ?
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign 2 жыл бұрын
There was a latex series of layers added, cured then removed. Let’s call that a shell or mask. You then place the cured latex shell or mask back into the mold and the load it with the poly foam. Now you have an ultra lightweight skull that can be colored up.
@kell2resq
@kell2resq Жыл бұрын
@@PacificMoldDesign is this to say it's not paintable if it doesn't have a latex shell on it?
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign Жыл бұрын
@@kell2resq you should remove the latex before adding the foam because the latex could rip if removed as one piece. Once removed, you can paint the latex like a typical latex mask.
@mikemcdonald9626
@mikemcdonald9626 3 жыл бұрын
Have you ever added just the foam mix w/o the latex? Anything that can be sprayed inside to prevent sticking?
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign 3 жыл бұрын
Mike yes, you have to use a wax based release agent. We have a Honey Wax or you can find some others online. Find a carnauba based wax and give the molds a few coats. If you are using Great Stuff, trip up on the release, the stuff is tacky.

@@PacificMoldDesign you said the 8 inch are more life size correct?
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign 3 жыл бұрын
Perspective is everything. If you use the 11" mold and tilt it forward during casting the face size is more accurate that the 8". The 8" mold is good if you just want something 8" in total size. I prefer the larger for the realism.

Would polyurethane foam work too?
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign 4 жыл бұрын
Joshua that is essentially the same material. If you choose to use pure foam, you will need a wax release agent. We carry "Honey Wax".
@HighonBoots
@HighonBoots 4 жыл бұрын
Pacific Mold Design would that still work with the latex layer too? Been using the polyurethane with the honey wax but it always hasn’t released uniformly like I’m seeing with this. How much would you spray in for this? And also while I have a moment, what’s a good way to clean them
@PacificMoldDesign
@PacificMoldDesign 4 жыл бұрын
Joshua The latex layer is a surefire way to contain the material. If you are using the wax, there meeds to be 3-4 solid coats before pouring. If you are using a spray, it may be the wrong stuff. Cleaning, send my some photos of what you are fighting. Pacificmolds@gmail.com
