There are case reports of long practicing experienced psychiatrist misdiagnosising narcolepsy as schizophrenia. That says a lot about the efficacy of psychiatric diagnosis (especially when the patients even had cataplexy at the time of presentation)

I've been dealing with mental health issues extensively in my family for 40 years. I've been saying for many years that sleep issues are one of the core issues in all mental health diagnoses and that if the sleep issues are controlled, the rest are much more easily controlled.

@@DocSnipes well, I am struggling to sleep without pills, but trying to find the way. My findings: positive social interactions (feeling love from friends or a man) significantly increase a probability that I can sleep up to even 8 hours. Once I lack that warmness of social interactions, I sleep as little as 3-4 hours..

This is a really good video. Good sleep really changes our life for the better. Some basic things make a big difference and I've really noticed this since my head injury. 1. Gratitude & faith in My God (this includes positive thinking, forgiveness to all and open mindedness). I let things go and I know everything will work out for me. 2. Get Good sleep. 3. Get Good nutrition. Dark leafy greens, big colorful tasty salads with chickpeas, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, have bright color fruits and veggies (no junk food), natural fat like avocados, eggs, full fat yogurt and cheese (because my brain absorbs it and it doesn't make me fat), baked potato or sweet potato and natural balanced diet. 4. A hobby or relaxing activity I like to do. Even just taking a walk in the afternoon can help relax and feel good. 5. Good support. I only associate with people who have a Good feeling energy. I've let go of all associations that feel heavy or feel draining to my energy. If this means I don't do the holiday gathering because I want to avoid arguments about politics or college, then I just spend time at home and I watch fun stuff on KZfaq. 6. I realize, I know I can't control others or the world, and that's OK. I go back to number 1 and I know that everything will work out for me. *sunlight, moonlight, fresh air and nature get a big honorable mention. Also I can exercise this way or through my hobby without even "deliberately exercising". I get exercise without even realizing it. These basic things are a big deal to help my mental, emotional and physical health. Thank you Ms Dr Snipes, for your calm videos. I like the way you explain and educate in your videos. XOXO

Sounds so odd and counter intuitive that suppressing the processing of emotions during REM sleep when on anti- depressants would improve depressive symptoms. Interesting!

How? How is this overlooked when it is the root of the problem? Most of psychiatry will likely become neurological sleep medicine in the future.
