Everyone is always choosing Stefan over Damon, the truth is that Damon is how he his because he is hurt. Because he has always been a good brother, and he protects his friends. He really loves Elena. But he is really hurt, Katherine hurt him, His dad hurt him, his mother hurt him, Stefan hurt him and even Elena hurt him. I really love Damon and his story is sad.

Partially true. But there's Enzo, Katherine, Kol, Klaus, Elijah (when he was likable) there's Silas, Kai, Caroline. So many other amazing characters that make this show amazing. Damon is one of the many that make this show awesome. The only thing that ruins TVD for me is Elena.

Lol Klaus and Damon's characters were the best. I can't see either of the two were better than the other. They were well written. Tho it took me 5 seasons to like Stefan character just because I feel like Damon and Elena relationship was kinda toxic & that she indeed shouldve went back to Stefan. And Damon couldve went on and gotten with another character. As for Klaus I liked his character all round. Only problem is the ending of the originals for me. He shouldn't had died. Though I think he should be with Cami because she truly understood him more than anyone, I was pissed that they build up the Klaroline relationship only for it to end up nowhere. Like wtf. But yea Klaus and Damon are the best two.

Poor Damon, he has been through a lot in his life , everyone hated him and choose Stefan over him.His story was just too sad.He loved Katherine,and she loved Stefan,he loved Elena ,and she loved Stefan,until one day,Elena realised she loved Damon and he became good . That shows that Damon isn’t a bad guy at all,he just needed to be loved!❤️

Damon is the best character I ever seen.. This video is awesome... It describes all of his actual characteristics. When tvd started every was in love with Stefan's good and all that but in that time it was me who loved Damon cause I didn't know why but I really somewhere feel connected with the character.. Damon in my opinion was always the relatable brother. The reason I can relate to him is the whole comparison between him and Stefan. I'm always being compared to my cousins and friends. I'm not the perfect one. I'm the one who always messes up, the one far from perfect. I'm always going to be the one with the big ass heart who gives and gives and never gets shit in return

When people judge me for loving Damon over Stefan, I usually don't have an explanation as to why. People who like Stefan are always saying how he's the better man and he's not so mean and I get that. I agree. Stefan is probably the better man. That doesn't mean I'm going to choose him though because not everyone wants the one who is kinder, sweeter. You know the reason I love Damon so much? It's because he makes so many mistakes. It's because he justifies his poor decisions. It's because he acknowledges his flaws. I love Damon because he's so human without realizing it. It's human nature to be selfish and think about yourself and make mistakes and choose bad decisions. I love how exemplified that it within Damon's character in the show. I love him because he reminds me that I'm going to make mistakes, I'm going to make bad decisions, I'm going to be selfish. I love how he knows who he is. He knows he's the bad guy, he knows he's the selfish one, at least he's not trying to deny those claims. He takes responsibility for his actions at the very least. That's why I love Damon.

Damon is someone who wants to be loved....he’s tough...reckless on the outside...but in reality...he’s lost...he shuts his emotions off bcuz every time he does feel...he always gets hurt...he was hurt by Katherine and used by her..all she wanted was Stefan. Then Elena came And she wanted Stefan, not Damon. It’s kinda like Klaus. Klaus wanted to be feared and be King, because all his life, he was afraid of his father. People dont see the good in him because they choose not to.There's a hell lot of good he did. Whenever someone thought there was hope in him, he destroyed it.to prove that he's not good. The truth is he was the most human among all of them.Humans have a good side and a bad side.those who keep the good side hidden are classified as 'bad' and those who bad side hidden are classified under 'good'. He keeps trying to convince himself and the people around him that he's bad and selfish. He does have a bad side but he has a very good side too.He just chooses to keep it hidden from others and himself.

Lindsay L I think that "real" means that he doesn't hide who he is, he never did, he doesn't hide the darkest part of himself. Stefan did. Stefan was afraid of that part, and that's why he never won over it. Also, Damon is not just bad, he's self-destructive, he hurts/kills people for feeling guilty, for feeling pain. He hated himself, he hated Stefan too. But he's been able to forgive. He has changed, he has grown, a lot. And that's why i love him, he has a real path, he's character actually tells a winding story (with an happy ending).

Rachel, you said it much better than I could've. He's not real because he kills.. he's real because every hardship, every emotion, and every moment of his life is like an open book and we can actually feel his roller coaster emotions throughout the series. He didn't hide his face because of shame. Rather he embraced the shame and allowed himself to be who he really was in that moment. That is something many people in reality today struggle to do, be themselves no matter who's watching. All of us as people have a dark side that's destructive and harsh. Personally I love how they chose to show those dark moments in life through Damon. I personally have always been 'real' like this throughout my life. It hasn't won me a multitude of friends, however because of it I have real friends that aren't afraid to accept humans have more than a few happy emotions within them! ;) The day the faking how you feel stops is the day true friends step up to the plate!

I agree Jo Lewi! I think, Damon has many human traits, because he loves in his own way, when someone hurts him he is angry, disappointed (then he kills). Damon is very sensitive, therefore, he tries to "exclude" feelings and humanity, because he don't want to suffer. And Stefan he pretends to be good, but he is really a ripper.

I've seen other good Damon character studies but not as amazing as yours. Your video focuses on how everyone's view point on Damon, opinion or fact has effected him. His feelings for Elena before they were reciprocated, everyone choosing Stefan even after he's with her, and his negative opinion of himself. I've observed Damon is also the person who's willing to make the hard choice more so then others and he is often the one playing a leadership role to his group in times of crisis. He shows loyalty towards his brother ,girlfriend, best friends Bonnie ,Alaric , Liz and others when he is not under the influence of Sybil. Damon is not this monster he claims to be. If good can be found in Klaus than it can be found in Damon. People focus on the bad they fail to see the good or the potential to be good.

The thing I love the most about this video is how it shows who Damon really is while showing his connection with Elena. In almost every scene where he's letting out his emotions or saying how he feels, Elena is almost always there or she's the prime reason. It really shows their love.

Remember everyone saying goodbye to the people that died and Damon walking away and telling Alaric, that they are kids and he hated them. But actually he just told him how much he missed him. My heart broke that scene. (4x02 I believe)
