That's their instinct to be always fully aware of their surroundings, this is why it's hard for them to fall asleep, especially at this age where they are young and vulnerable.

It's always so cute when they're clearly fighting sleep. I always thought that was exclusively a human thing until I got a kitten, and he did the same thing. Three kittens after (I only adopted from the streets. Kittens just find me), and every single one did the same thing. I don't know what they think they're going to miss, but it's definitely one of the cutest things.

Yeah, that's how they sit when they have a very light little nap, probably doesn't last more than 30 minutes. My cat does it too, then he wakes up to scratch our furniture and steal our food
