I love the album. I like that Adderall opens it. It's a curve ball. It's got plenty of heavy and plenty of melody. I don't mind Corey singing or screaming. He sounds menacing on this album.

Warranty is a good example of exactly what I've been missing from slipknot since Iowa, it's heavy its got a good groove, Corey sounds like he's going for it more, actually when I hear that song one of the riffs actually reminds me of alittle bit of a Cannibal Corpse styled riff

I’ve been a massive fan since 99’. I was 16 when Iowa came out, and it fucking blew me away, still does. I listened to the new album last night, and I must say, it’s insanely experimental. Some aspects are questionable, some are executed very well. It’ll take time to fully grow on me, but so far, I’m enjoying it. Great review guys! 👍

Y'all seem like such awesome dudes, so glad I clicked on the video, instantly subscribed. As for "The End, So Far". I personally really enjoyed the album, upon my first listen I had a negative view of it, however the more and more I listen too it, it's grown on me. Songs like Chapeltown Rag and Dying Song are giving me Iowa vibes, songs like Yen are giving me Vermilion vibes from Vol. 3, H377 is giving HUGE Self-Titled vibes, Hive Mind and Heirloom are similar to Nero Forte and Critical Darling from WANYK. It was a great variety, and I think the only gripes I have are Adderal because it just isn't a good intro at all, and the lack of interludes. I love a good interlude and intro to really set the tone and build up the excitement. Think All Hope Is Gone's intro, it leads directly into Gematria, or 515 on Iowa, leading into Disasterpiece. Solid album, 4.5/5 for me!

Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I was kinda caught off guard by this one (really caught off guard by the opening track but that's a different story) since I really wasn't a fan of the last one. I haven't heard much yet because mine will be arriving in the mail today. I usually try to not listen to the singles over and over again before the album gets released so each song gets an equal opportunity to become my favorite and I don't get sick of any song prior to its release. I'll let you know what I think after I've listened to it a few times and let it digest. Also, I think an all Slipknot albums ranked would be an interesting video. They only have 7 albums so it shouldn't take THAT long, lol.

I think the problem with Adderall is not its quality but its quantity. I believe if it was cut down to around 2 minutes, it would have been completely fine as it would seem like a prelude and not a standalone song. Considering it's longer than The Dying Song itself, it feels dragged, a bit like Prelude 3.0 which could've been shorter too. In terms of the music itself on both Adderall and the overall album, it is unique but not entirely new, as Circle, Vermilion Part 2 and My Pain were mellow, so I think the criticism that this album isn't Slipknot-worthy is complete bs, although I do acknowledge it would rank considerably low compared to other works. People only say it is a bad album because to date, Slipknot haven't made a bad album and their expectations are high. Take Pink Floyd by comparison: people thought Wish You Were Here was a bad album because it wasn't like The Dark Side of the Moon, yet Richard Wright and David Gilmour as well as myself consider it their best album.
@nemesis8626
@nemesis8626 Жыл бұрын
For me it's a mix of both, I agree with you though it's OK, the keys sound good, Corey's vocals are good, but it doesn't do enough musically to justify over 5 minutes, plus it shouldn't open the album. I think it would be more suitable to a stone sour or even corey solo project album

You guys are amazing, any other channel would have said a few words including, "well its another Slipknot album", but you guys went beyond and broke down the tracks. I was never a fan, from beginning till now, I can say I like greatest hits Slipknot, but albums as a whole I haven't heard one I enjoy fully yet. I also never got the whole group thing, I remember hearing High on Fire for the first time and thinking, holy shit this three peice sounds way better than that group of chaos all my friends are trying to get me to listen to. I guess I like my usic to be a bit more structured, but when Slipknot succeeds on structuring their sound they become a slightly heavier Stone Sour. I will have to give this album a listen and see where they go from here outside of the roadrunner umbrella.

Only heard a few songs of the album so far, but I didn't mind the gentler tracks. I like it when there's experimentation, and when Taylor gives his voice more time to shine I don't really have cause to complain. I like variety; if the can pull all their elements in, then I'd probably like the album. :)

Not a huge Slipknot fan since about Iowa but wanted to listen to this with an open mind. It was just ok for me, lost me in the back half, I found it pretty plodding to be honest. I think these guys would be well served by cutting a couple guys out. Jay Weinberg is enough of a drummer, and there are some parts that felt shoehorned just to give the DJ something to do. Feel like a 5 or 6 piece would be more focused and cohesive.

I wasn't too big on 'We Are Not Your Kind' so I went into this with cautious expectations, but holy shit a majority of this album fuckin' rocks. Strangely, Adderall is one of my favorites. In my humble opinion, they got the Stone Sour vibe right with that. If anything, I thought the singles 'Yen' and 'Dying Song' were the low points. I'd easily skip those two. But overall, it's incredible that Slipknot can put out an album this beastly this far into their career. Yeah, it might not be as heavy as their first 2 albums, but few things can ever be that heavy, and this album has some characteristics that those first 2 albums lack. 8/10. Good job guys. My faith in Slipknot has been restored.

I like it fine enough but it really feels unfinished. It feels like they literally were like: hey guys lets just put something out and finish this contract with roadrunner. And I know people don't like the comparison and till now neither did I but at least four of the songs on this album sounds more like something you'd hear on on Stone Sours House of Gold and Bone parts one and two imo. They definitely needed more time in production to sharpen up the songs and make them better. Imo this is their weakest album. That doesn't mean I think its bad, just the worst of the best. They should've said F the BS restrictions and got together to flesh this out more. They could've tested every day and took precautions but maybe they couldn't be bothered to be uncomfortable for a couple weeks. Idk. Even Shawn is saying that he doesn't really consider this an album per say but more like just putting out some songs and Jim said they really didn't do their best or put in the time on this and I think it shows. It just really feels unfinished to me.

Finally got around to listening to The End, So Far. I do like this more than We Are Not Your Kind. When I first fired up this album, I heard Adderall and was like "what the fuck is this? This sucks donkey balls" and I was like "please don't tell me the rest of the album is like this?" Thankfully, the rest of the album is not like the opener. Yen, Hive Mind, and Warranty is when the album won me over. I didn't care for Acidic too much, but H377 was great. Finale is an interesting closer. I have the same opinion on this than Spiders from WANYK, which I thought was an interesting song on it but I don't know if I like it or not. I did enjoy this album. It's without question better than WANYK, which I did not like that album. I don't think it stacks up to the first three albums, but it's a good listen. The opener is the worst song on the album, and it has some misfires, but it's mostly enjoyable, which is a positive for me.

My expectations for this album weren’t very high as I found all the singles to be pretty mediocre, but I was still keen to give it a listen. Adderall was a weird way to start the album, kinda lost my attention as it went on. I don’t think it was a necessarily bad song, but it had no business being 5 and a half minutes long, shorten it to 2 minutes at least. The rest of the album shared a similar problem that I had with the singles. The chorus almost always destroyed my enjoyment of the song. They were all just really weak. I think the strongest tracks on here are Hive Mind and H377, demonstrated typical slipknot sound along with some creativity and great instrumental work. The slower pace songs like Acidic had their moments too. The main standout of the album. I gotta give credit to the drumming, Jay did a really good job on this album and kept it varied, it may be his best work yet. While I don’t think this album was very good, I wouldn’t say it’s bad either. Just very average and that’s how I guessed it would be.

I really enjoyed this album! Even Adderall, it was a pleasant song, but then I wanted the metal to start flowing. When it did, it did, and I love it! It’s probably my favourite later Slipknot album! Honestly, maybe one of my favourite Slipknot albums period. it was really refreshing, it really felt like Slipknot, and that’s exactly what I wanted! Jay killed it, Pfaffs backing vocals added a bit of a new feeling for whatever song he has singing on. Coreys screams are probably the best they have been since Iowa in my opinion. They took a big variety of influence and it’s obvious the blues and doom metal influence on Acidic, and I dig it! I know a lot of metalheads kinda despise nu metal, but I live it as much as I love thrash and doom! Speaking of doom, where did you get that killer Saint Vitus shirt man?!

Honestly. I genuinely think this is their best album since the first two. I even like it more than Iowa. Corey has never sounded better. I think the fans have pigeon holed the band. They want one thing from the band. But Slipknot since the beginning has been juggling a lot of sounds. This album FINALLY feels like they were like "Bro, let's bring the art and the murder."

It's a good record doubt, but with all due respect I say that Iowa defintely contained some much heavier songs than this album.

I've been listening to that Kittie album again from 1999 I think. That record slaps pretty hard. Morgan Lander was a fan of David Vincent's vocals from Morbid Angel. Theirs a version of Spit from Ozzfest 2000 I believe that rips. They just reunited here in September 2022. Pretty sick band back in the day like Mudvayne, SOAD, Deftones. Slipknot. The Kittie girls were only like 16-19 when they made that first record.

not sure what you guys been smoking but Adderall is a great eerie tune. weird as an opener I'll give you that but the songwriting is among their best when it comes to melodic pop structured songs.

This album has high highs and low lows to me. Acidic and De Sade just did nothing for me, but Hivemind and H3LL are some of my favourite songs of post IOWA Slipknot. There's enough good songs here that I'm satisfied though

I’m massively in the minority on this, but I fucking love Adderall 🤣 im just into weird shit like that and it kinda has a cool 70’s vibe to me. I like that they throw ppl for a loop and I like that they do whatever they want even if it makes some ppl mad haha but overall it was a very good album. I like that they are leaning more into an artsy sound more than stone sourish. And they can still bring the heat!

Necrotic Nick- I might have liked it more if it wasn't the opening track or just something Corey did as a side project but it feels really out of place compared to the rest of the album. I like weird shit but it's gotta at least fit with the album for me. Outside of that I thought the album was pretty solid and it was cool hearing them get heavier again.

I know this is pretty much the consensus of the comment section, but yeah, Corey Taylor is and always has been the weakest link of Slipknot. His lyrics sound written by a pseudo intellectual high schooler with zero self awareness, his cleans sound like whiny butt-rock singing more appropriate for a Breaking Benjamin/Three Days Grace/Shinedown then a heavy band with "I'm so scary" masks, and his growls sound less passionate and more contrived unlike the aggressive and demented Iowa and debut vocals. The instrumentals are good, and I still love the first two albums, but Corey as a vocalist is pretty lame

Necrotic Nick- I mean, it did kinda feel like we were being fucked with right from the rip with that track lol. Overall though, this was a pretty solid album and it was good to hear them dial up some ferocious songs to balance out the more melancholy ones.

there is definitely some songs and parts that are heavy as shit, like the old albums, but there is a lot of filler and crappy songs overall. the song 'de sade' i just can't stand it, so fucking cringy and bad. not a bad album but not a great either.

It really is. I wouldn't entirely blame the members for it, personally, because TESF reeks of "covid album" while WANYK sounds like a band going full force as a unit. Not within their control but the results speak for themselves when they don't even play songs from this album live anymore

This album is lame. From the album art, the lyrics and the rap verses ending for a shredding solo, this whole thing just confused me over pulling me in. Read these lyrics man. What the fuck is Corey talking about? Who approved that cover? looks unfinished and the logo slapped all small like that...man lol why? Listened to H377 and enjoyed it, until corey started screaming.
