SLR or Rangefinder? Which is your go-to and why? What types of photography do you do the most? COMMENT BELOW⬇️

I've been curious about rangefingers for some time. Perfect video just in time 😇

I have a rangefinder (Canon p) and an slr (Nikon fe). I like shooting both, but if I had to pick one it’s the rangefinder. It’s more fun to shoot. That being said I also have a tlr (rolleicord v) and 120 slr (Bronica SQ-A) and while the tlr is fun and anytime I take it out people love seeing it/asking questions about it, I prefer the 120 slr. It’s weird

I have SLR(Nikon, Minolta) and rangefinders(Canon 7, Ricoh 500gx), i prefer doing the focus with the SLR with the Canon 7 it's very difficult whatever the moment but the RF are more compact

I shoot SLRs and rangefinders. Love them both. Over the decades, I used my cameras for photojournalism, documentary, medical/scientific, macro, street, sports, landscape, scenic, portraits, products, architectural, theatre, stage shows, travel/vacation, underwater, aerial, astrophotography, weddings, and other social events. My favorite 35mm SLR is a Nikon F2 with over two-dozen lenses. My favorite 35mm rangefinder is a Leica M6 with three lenses. My favorite medium format SLR is a Mamiya RB67 with six lenses. My favorite medium format rangefinders are a Fuji GW670 with fixed normal lens and a Fuji GSW690 with fixed wide-angle lens. My favorite digital SLR is a Fuji S5 Pro that I use with my Nikon lens inventory. The Fuji X-Pro2 is my favorite rangefinder-style digital mirrorless that I use with my Nikon lens inventory and eight Fuji X-mount lenses. Note, I was hoping the Leica M10 would be my favorite rangefinder digital camera but the two I purchased were defective.

Interesting & informative vid Mister, I've always been a fan of rangefinder camera's, my voigtlander bessa r is my choice for rangefinder, love the focus patch so clear and bright. Perfect for street and documentary photography. You explain it so well. Thanks

In my daily commute I use a rangefinder camera. This camera allows me to walk around light and discreate, just frame it and shoot. But, if I have the time to make better composition and expend more time framing measuring correctly the light, I prefer the SLR. Rangefinders are better for street photography and documentary photography. SLRs are better for sports, landscape, cityscapes, macros, astrophotography, and portraits (SLR has more options and gadgets that makes the SLRs more versatile than rangefinders)

just realized outside of my Nikon F2 (beautifully brassed i might add haha) all my other cameras are either rangefinder or rangefinder style bodies!

I'm an SLR guy - mostly a Pentax MX - but one big advantage Rangefinders have over SLRs: a much quieter shutter, which is essential in more candid situations.

I dont have much to add to your excellent overview. I shoot almost 50/50 Olympus OM3 and Canon P. They are similar in size - both work without batteries. I choose OM3 when I need accurate spot metering option and use my 100mm lens. The Olympus OM SLR line are among the most compact SLRs and have great lens selection. And for ultra compact I carry Olympus XA rangefinder.

I love the no "blackout" when pressing the shutter on a rangefinder or TLR.

Rangefinder, Leica M2

Mostly SLR, because the ability to get really close with macro lens. I know we can also do this with wide angle lens, but I'm not a fan of that look. On different days, a RF with 50m or 85mm is enough. I think the benefit of using RF felt more significant when shooting in medium format. Try carrying a 6x7 SLR (e.g Pentax 67) for a day walk. Not particularly fun 😅

I've got the Canon P and it's pretty cool but i'm interested in digital rangefinders these days. I'm just not sure i'll be as quick with it as I am with my Mirrorless, I love how easy I can just point and shoot with mirrorless, especially when i'm travelling shooting street photography - I need to catch people in the moment without them seeing my dick around with my camera haha. Nice video mate.

Got an Leica M4 for a year and i have to say for my Work an SLR Like an Nikon F would be better haha fuck.
