Since the window in your bedroom is bothering you, you might consider getting a very long curtain rod with curtains and shears underneath to appear as though you have a much larger window. When the curtains are closed no one would know the difference. It would help fill up that empty wall space and make everything look more centered. Just a thought.

This is a very good idea and professional decorating tip. Take the rod to the ceiling and expand it on the wall on both sides far enough so that when the curtains are open the window itself is not blacked by a curtain letting in full light but gives the illusion that the window extends much wider. Their tip…. Don’t ever hang a curtain the same width or the same height as your window.

My refrigator is my nightmare there is always somthing spilling in the back! With kids, you can't avoid it! I try to do this before I go grocery shopping so I can just put things away. I wish they had a self cleaning refrigator! LOL! Grocery shopping is such a chore some weeks! I go when they open to aviod crowds and found Wednesday is a good day since everything is stocked up from the weekend! I love your organization video's, so helpful.

Hello! I just stumbled upon your channel. I LOVE what you do! So inspirational and motivating. I know you mentioned you have had the same topic of extreme decluttering... Honestly, I absolutely love watching every. single. video! Your commentary of each video is also wonderfully descriptive. I can even just listen to it while I clean my own home to keep me inspired! Thanks for sharing your channel.

I fold the clothes so I can see them all when I open the drawers. Then your kids won't be messing them up. They see everything and can pick an item they are looking for right away. 😊

You have such talent for decluttering and reorganizing! I find so many ways to keep my spaces in better shape watching your videos. A note on the rinsing of dishes before you put them in the dishwasher I had the same issues, little bits left on the baking dishes. It seems to be an issue with things you put in the oven and get baked on so YES I do the same thing. It makes me crazy when I see food still stuck in a dish! LOL! Thanks for this video!

I was asking myself why I have never organised my closet by color. Then I very quickly remembered that 95% of my clothes are black. I also own 3 identical copies of what I like to call my ‘foundation garments’ (no not corsets and bum rolls for any historical costumers out there, can you imagine? 😂) black leggings for spring/fall, black 3/4 leggings for summer and grey track pants for winter. I have a few light colour tshirts for summer and dark hoodies and jumpers for winter. I realised I hate making decisions on what to wear. I always thought it would be nice to be a cartoon character and wear the same thing every day so now I pretty much do 🤣😂🤣 I have one nice skirt for summer and warm cardigan and boots I pair with leggings for winter if I have to look a bit dressed up. I could fit my entire wardrobe and shoes in a standard sized suitcase. I don’t have to swap out clothes for different seasons. I do have the benefit of living in a pretty mild climate though so don’t need snow gear.

I love cleaning and organizing but it has gotten more challenging with a 4 year and 18 month old. Especially now with my 18 month old not sleeping well at night. Up every hour. Any suggestions. I’m tired just doing the basic but I have lots of organizing and home projects that need tackling. Love your videos! I live in a maybe 1500 sq home in southern ca with My two littles and hubby who loves alllll his things. 😅 Any real life suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 💕

I love your videos! Also, as a loving aunt to my two nephews, I couldn’t leave without just a heads up … excellent job in putting the medications high up, out of the baby’s reach, and the band-aids where he knows where they are. But also, the open container of the Comet or Comet-like cleaner was placed right at the bottom of the door, even below the band-aids where he was to have access. Please, everyone, always put that type of cleaner/container wayyy out of the babies’ reach. So many babies are hurt with items that they “would never touch”.

I feel that Lego is a building toy to develop counting, imagination and logic. ❤The best way to do them is build but put it in a clear shoe storage bin on the lid then the 'bottom bin' as a dome to display his creation but you can stack them. When he tires of a build, disassemble into that bin and set the instruction book in with it. If he turns out to love❤ building with Lego then you will need a fitted sheet on the floor to keep Lego contained. If you add a cord around it then to clean up is just grab all the corners/edges/string and into a bigger bin it goes. Less Mom cleaning issues or baby finds the stray pieces. 😅Kids tend to dump out but the fitted sheet keeps it contained. Other idea, under the bed storage bins can be a whole city or space set up with the unused pieces to the side or an end. No Mom help required to clean up if it stays in the longer wider bin that will slide under the bed protecting his masterpieces. 😂

Sophia, you and I are similar in our courses of study. I got my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with minor in deviant psychology... I planned to go to FBI to work " in the basement" . However an in the line of duty injury in 1992 permanently sidelined that career plan My "career" started on the West Coast to yours beginning on the East Coast I too have that core set of books that were part of my schooling and I too have the Ressler and Douglas books and a few that you mentioned. I've been a subscriber for several years now, I feel like it would be very nice to sit and have tea with you and discuss many things Bless you, Sophia, and your family too 💜

Another way to get more space in your closet is to raise the first bar up higher and add a second bar. The space doubles for more hanging.

On the part where you're decluttering your closet, you had said that you have a basement. I was just curious if you had room for one of those pop up closets that has a zipper to protect them? I live in a very small apartment, so I'm always looking for ways to minimize or organize lol!

Loved your video and your toddler. When decluttering clothes from his room while he have a nap why don't you just put him in his baby carriage (stroller?). In Norway babies always have their nap outside in their baby carriage but I know this is not common in America, but you could just use the top bag as a crib inside, put him in another room. This way he will also get used to sleep in other places. (I don't know if you have a baby carriage or a stroller as he is a toddler, not a baby). 😊

Catherine, Is the shelf for toys on the back of the door able to be cut smaller to adapt to a shorter area? I’d like it on the side of my linen closet for my cleaning products to sit in, and curling iron and hairdryer. can I ask where that if from? TIA. PS.And don’t fret! Most fridges are mess, I know I’m always moving thing around, unfortunately I don’t have the space for a bigger one.People these days love to criticize others🙄

We people in Western countries obviously have far too much clutter. Our companies don't seem to produce useful and sustainable products that serve our purposes. Unfortunately, we waste our money for them. We need to become aware of being abused by our industry and think of the real values. In any case: Thank you for your tutorial.

Maybe this is a US-American thing but watching your video, I keep wondering why you are so focused on the expiration date -especially with food. Why wouldn‘t you just open the items and smell/taste them as most are much langer good than the expiration date suggests. This was, a lot of food could be kept a bit longer and - because you are now aware in needs to be used up - not thrown away. Saves money, avoids food waste and teaches our children to treat food with respect.

This I understand perfectly well and is exactly the reason why I trust my nose and tastebuds more than the (sometimes randomly picked) expiration date 😅 Because sometimes e.g. dairy products were not cooled the way they are supposed to and then they turned bad before they are supposed to and I REALLY hate the thought of drinking bad whipped cream 🤢 or - worse - give any of that to my children. So I just always smell and/or taste before I use it and never look at the date put on it. I feel safer this way… Anyways, your video was really great and motivational! You are the first KZfaqr I came across to say that function is more important than aesthetics - I feel like a lot of people need to hear and understand this as it takes a lot off the pressure some might feel from social media… All the best to you and your family!
