Hey Mike, Keyboard Nerd from UK here and. you nailed it again. Great idea of mixing the licks - I've been trying a lot of your licks and maybe inadvertently doing just that :) Anyhow would love for you to put together a video on how to play licks musically in a band situation without messing with the other players - sometimes I get a bit too excited and go all prog rock and get yelled at by my mates!! Keep up your brilliant stuff.

Great video! I’m so happy to have just discovered your channel. I have recently joined a dance/party band so I need to up my solo game in a more rock & roll or funk style. You’ve given me great ideas! As more of a “jazz guy”, I’ve thought differently about soloing but it’s been a great challenge to take on playing in this style. Thanks for the lesson .. But, I have to comment. I see an Acetone organ and a Sony TC-101 tape recorder in the background .. Both of which I had owned too! (Way before I could afford anything like a B3!) :-)

You have a good eye!! The tape machine was my grandmothers and the Acetone well…. Still use it on lots of albums. What a great combo organ!! Cheers 🎹🤟

How Can this lick be applied to other scales?

Pentatonic and Blues Scales have a shape to them that can be quite specific and falls under the hands a certain way. Having said that if you can see the patterns you can often apply them to other scales. Thanks for watching!
