That is a GREAT video. Thank you so much for simplifying it and not a long drawn out video. I also appreciate comparing mustard to non-mustard ribs. The only advantage I've been told is the rub absorbs better using mustard (it won't affect the tenderness or smoking taste). Anyway, great job and very helpful to beginners like me.

165-180 isn't the ideal temp, you're aiming for 190-195, the collagen in the meat turns into gelatin at around 190 and gives you a clean bone when you eat the. Everything else was spot on

Not everyone cares for a mushy fall off the bone style tho. They like a "bite" to each their own. I like a good middle ground of tenderness and yet slightly firm with a little tug of the bone.

Hey brother I just bought the same smoker that you have I’ve never smoked before I’d like to try doing a brisket any experience or tips?
@TheSmokingBeard
@TheSmokingBeard 5 жыл бұрын
Low and Slow. Keep the smoker temp between 220 and 250. My briskets take 12 hour or longer at that temp. If your brisket hits internal temp of 195 too fast, you will have a tough brisket. Season the brisket the night before. Place it fat side down with the thickest part nearest your heating element and add apple cider vinegar to your water pan. Make sure to pull in out when it hit 190 - 195 and wrap it with foil. Let it rest in a cooler for 2 hours before cutting. As always, cut against the grain. Check out my other videos. It explains all this in detail. My brisket video has over 100K views. That one literally takes you step by step in my method. Enjoy your new smoker and let me know how it turns out.

Shouldn't really care for smoke ring nor fall off the bone action if it ain't no competition/back yard BBQ, all you should care about in a electric smoker is making smoking easy and most of all turning out some good grub... Remember low and slow is the way to go on a electric smoker imo, hope this helps Happy smoking folks!

How many times are you adding chips?? just twice? I just got mine but feel like I'm adding too much smoke
@TheSmokingBeard
@TheSmokingBeard 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the temp you are smoking at. Higher temps means chips burn off faster. I check mine every 30 minutes to see if I need to add more. I like mine with alot of smoke flavor so for me the more smoke the better, but that's personal preference. During the time you have them wrapped in foil, there is no need to add chips.

The Smoking Beard electric, it’s the 130 edition where you put the chips on the bottom then turn them clockwise to drop into pan
@TheSmokingBeard
@TheSmokingBeard 4 жыл бұрын
Yellow smoke? Never heard of that. Maybe you have bad wood chips. Have you seasoned it yet? Meaning ran it by itself so it can burn off all the impurities? Also, the chips will run out on you ever 20 to 30 minutes. That's just the way these smokers go. It might even stop smoking after a while. That is why I recommend getting a cold smoker attachment or an A-Maze-N pellet smoker attachment. Check out the links I have on my description if interested.

Membrane Removed? *Very Important* Smoker at 225? Have you checked to make sure your smoker is reaching the temp you set it at with an external temp probe? 3 Hours Unwrapped? 2 Hours Wrapped with Marinade? 1 Hour Unwrapped (or less depending on your taste to stiffen them up a little). If you did that exactly then I'm confused. Especially if you wrapped then in foil for 2 hours. That alone will get you really soft ribs. All I can say is try different types of ribs. Sorry to hear that... hope you don't stop trying.

😆... one of my 1st videos where I thought the videos couldn't be longer than 10 minutes long. I sped up some of the video to try and keep it within 10 minutes.

Yea.. The angle was steeper than I thought. Regardless... the ribs came out pretty good. Maybe next time I will cut them bone side up so I can see them better. Thanks for watching... Happy smoking.

Listen people... you do not need to lather your BBQ in mustard. Put the rub on the meet, and let it sweat in for 10 minutes. This bullshit about needing to coat your meat in mustard for the rub to stick is ridiculous. So gross.

You don't want ribs falling off. Wives tale. Check the numerous videos on competition ribs. They should NOT be falling off. I used to think the same thing .... Use the bend test - he is 100% correct.

@@williamglover5579 Wrong. Rub the meat down (it’s called a “rub”, not a “sprinkle”) and let it sit in the fridge for an hour or two. No “binding agent” necessary.

It was one of my 1st videos, and the ribs came out great. Never claimed to be a pro. My channel is dedicated to backyard BBQers not meant for competition. Does it make you feel better about yourself by putting other down? Thanks for watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe.
