Best snap on deal I've ever gotten...free. Driving down the road and found a snap on screw driver just laying there. It was rusty and the handle was all broken. Probably fell off someone's work truck. Took it to the snap on truck. He changed out the whole thing no questions asked. Just gave me a brand new one. Still use it every day.

Lifetime warranty only applies to the blade. The handle is a wear item and as such isn’t included. The snap on dealer obv knew the guy was a one time customer and didn’t want to argue with some tool grubbing non technician so he gave him the whole thing. As a real mechanic you get to hear all about all the different kinds of snap on customers and they all will tell u there are ones they just want to fuck off forever, just like any business

It probably does. I wonder how much the driver owes to snap on for all of that? The mechanics that think they are in deep to the tool man probably don’t realize the tool man is in way WAY deeper to the bigger tool man.

Steffen Zimmerman most armored trucks are running around at capacity. I see them all the time stopping at retail stores picking up cash deposits. No way in fuck they have 600 million on board. I’m sure a very small minority of them go make big deliveries like that but I think they’ll be just that, the minority.

@44R0Ndin
@44R0Ndin 5 жыл бұрын
SupaNami That's more because mechanics are so good at fixing things that there's no brain power left over for stuff like managing a reasonable tool purchase budget. It's all about being smart with your money. Try and set something up so you get lets say $20 taken out of your paycheck and put into your savings account. 5 weeks later that's $100. Guess what? Now you can have that nice $100 ratchet for exactly as much as they say it costs. Saving is "paying off the debt over time" BEFORE you buy something, credit is "paying off the debt over time" AFTER you buy something. Credit is more expensive than saving, and saving can actually make you money (interest works in your favor when you're saving, and against you when you use credit). In other words, with some thought put into planning, and a willingness to wait to get something, you can get what you want without paying any interest, assuming you have ANY amount of money left over after paying the bills and food cost.
@mcearl8073
@mcearl8073 5 жыл бұрын
The Snap on guy isn’t holding a gun to anyone’s head. They are expensive but there’s a reason for most of it. Try getting a 270lb guy to put all his weight on a full drawer in a craftsman box or something. When I was a tech the driver would extend a bit of credit on a “truck account”. There was no interest and no credit ap. So that 99 dollar ratchet stays 99 dollars. Unless you start buying really expensive shit like boxes, there’s not much reason to have to go through more. I bought a small box and a decent amount of tools and never paid any Interest.

OMG! been a long long time since i was in a Snap On or Mac Tools truck, +- 28 years now. Hi from the east coast of Canada! Was apprenticing as a bus and transport mechanic for a number of years at rather the late age of late 20's early 30's and abruptly decided that was not a career path i actually wanted, left, went for 20+- years into commercial construction/carpentry and now work at a local sawmill about 7-8 min from home looking to retire in a couple years. Weird career journey to be sure lol. I used to love when those guys pulled in the yard and peddled their wares. The amazing (stupid expensive lol) stuff just made you drool and fortunately, they allowed payment plans as im sure they still do. Still have a few Snap On tools kicking around after 3 decades. Love this channel and thanks for the nostalgic journey.

The lid safety retainer welds broke off but the lid stays up on it's on but my advice is be smart about buying tools, there are many, many equally well made tools for less than a spleen, or kidney although back in the day there was very little competition for pro quality tools, and I always enjoyed taking a look on the ole SO truck each week.

Just like a bank robbery Get in Get what you need and Get out Fast. I have spent way over my budget in a Snap On truck and I'm not even a vehicle mechanic. I'm an IT admin and decided I needed a Snap-On toolbox for all my "IT" tools. On the bright side I have a great cranberry 40" roll n lock toolbox that is in mint condition in my office. It's fun to watch people try to open the drawers.

I wonder how well these cats are doing in the current economic environment. I have my grandpa's 1/4 and 1/2 inch vintage sets and I had no idea they were this expensive. However, the new sets don't come with the faint smell of Schmidt's beer and the echoes of an endless string of Italian obscenities.

"these cats" will always be able to make money. If not off the portion of family grave plots they have people sign over, then for the complete* tool boxes they confiscate from people who miss payments... some which even contain "great grandpappy's tools 'I' inherited", which go along with the re-sale, after repo.

I used to mechanic on tractors back in the 79's & 80's up to1990. I spent so much time on the Snap-On truck that the dealer started pimping me to become a dealer. I actually educated him on some of the tools he pushed. We were just 30 miles from Kenosha, the home of Snap-On. i went a different route & profession so my tools sit idle a LOT.

I had always though SnapOn was the creme de la creme until I called them for the name of a local dealer and was told that if I wasn't a garage that I wasn't going to be given a dealers phone. As the owner of an engineering firm re-tooling our mechanical assembly area this attitude shocked me. Due to a recent order we had allocated $200,000 for new tooling which the SnapOn phone rep just turned their nose up to. Needless to say there are many tool companies and suprisingly Harbor Freight has some nice tools in the Icon line with lifetime warranty at substantially cheaper prices and immediate warranty replacement. I have to say SnapOn has the best sales prevention department manned by fools.
