Truely a legend! Btw, in the German dubs he also voiced Diego in the Ice Age movies, and Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda 👍 he did so much more of course, but I thought it's nice to know

I do hope people watch this version while keeping in mind that just like with the english language, German too has specific ways to voice villain characters. Thomas Fritsch's performance here is not to be confused with how a normal German person sounds. This was one of Germany's best voice actors in his prime, this man was asked to sound scary/evil to Germans and that's what he delivered on an A+ level.

Thomas Fritsch also voiced Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda, Diego in Ice Age and Aslan in Narnia. He sure was accustomed to voicing animal predators, Lions specifically.

I recommend "A friend like me" German version "Nur ein kleiner Freundschaftsdienst". The German dubber did an amazing job considering he had to dub Robin Williams crazyness

His name was Peer Augustinski and he almost always dubbed Robin Williams. In my opinion: quite perfect.

Ooooh yes, the villain songs are always INCREDIBLE in German! 😍 I really want to stress though, that it is not because German sounds naturally aggressive or smth like that, but because we have such amazing voice actors (who just seem to be doing "evil" particularly well xD). You should listen to Ziras lullaby in German from the second one. Puts chills down your spine. But seriously: all the German Disney songs (or other animated) sound amazing. Especially the older ones. This is one thing that we most often have even the original beat in my opinion (yes you heard that right!), and that almost never happens in my world. I am a stoud fan of originals, but the German versions are just soooo good! There are sooooo many songs I could recommend you should watch from Disney movies, but I won't because it would seriously break this comment xD But I will say: just think about your favourite songs and watch the German versions. You will propably be amazed!

Hey get out of my head XD. I thought the same about Ziras lullaby. But you're both right it sounds way more agressive and the best is when i am angry i like to sing along. I love disney songs. Most of them mor in germen cause i grew up with them but later i liked the original virsions too. I dont feel offended in any way. Cause its true it sound agressive cause its the soul of this song. It perfectly imbodies scars wrath. Its a great song.

Hey ShadyShae, falls du es noch nicht getan hast, schau dir "König der Löwen" komplett auf deutsch an! Der deutsche Soundtrack dazu ist viel schöner und liebevoller produziert, als die englische Version. Leider sind viele Synchronsprecher von damals verstorben, u.a. auch die deutsche Synchron-Stimme von Scar. Hakuna Matata!

I think by now, you reviewed a clip on the difference of (old) German theatrical style and spoken German. Good example here. This is on purpose. Reminds us of both: Machtergreifung and Eastern German politics. I had to answer every day in school - and more than ones a day - 'Seid bereit!' - 'Immer bereit!' For some people in Germany, not a problem. For the ones who wanted to leave this system: an absolute horror. I feel emptiness, when I look backt at those days of my youth.

If you liked that, i highly recommend, that you check out the german version of "hellfire" from Disney's "the hunchback of Notre Dame". That is, what I call really evil. Ukrainian here. German sounds very bossy, bit aggressive, can scare the hell out of you when spoken with a strong R like in Seid Bereit. And long words are a pain, your nouns gave me dyslexia. But despite sounding manly, it is a nice language, because no one can sound so cool and majestic 🙂

German works well for songs like this, Rasputin's song "Tief im Dunkeln der Nacht" (In the dark of the night) from "Anastasia" is really good, too. However I'm not sure whether it's available with English subtitles... 🤔

Thomas Fritsch deliberately spoke and sang this part much more forcefully than the English original, where Scar almost always sounds cool and suave (Fritsch did that too with the prior appearances of Scar in the movie. The contrast between his usual way of speaking and the forceful agressive way he speaks in this scene when he shows his true colors IMHO made him more scary. They lyrics are obviously better in the original, because coming up with something in another language that says basically the same AND fits the metric and rhyme scheme of the song is hard. You simply can't translate a line like "my teeth and ambitions are bared" (which is the original English line for the "my teeth are as blank as my envy" part). Fun fact: Fritsch was also the voice actor who usually dubbed Russel Crowe and he also was the voice actor for Aslan in the Narnia chronicles.

Germany is very successful nation, (for example: punctuality, discipline, precision, respect for work, and rights,). Now you look to Switzerland: it is about 10 times more extreme. (you should search for these informations about Switzerland, Germany and Austria too,.and you will see why these 3 nations are rich and respect the money.) In north Europe there is the same,..(Norvege, Sweden, Finnland, Belgium, etc.)
