It was an absolute CRIME that the Doobie Brothers didn't get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until late last year!! Especially considering how many crappy bands were inducted years before them!

I wouldn’t be surprised that induction is tied to donations from bands. How did YES not get inducted into the RRHOF until 2017. RUSH got inducted in 2013. King Crimson still isn’t inducted.

Well, I liked both incarnations of the Doobies. Michael McDonald joined the Doobies as lead singer when the original lead was ill and had to leave the band for an extended period, not sure but I think it was a couple years. When he recovered he was welcomed back into the band and both he and McDonald lead the band. McDonald began his career as a studio backup singer, you will hear him on a lot of Steely Dan albums.

@DeepThawts
@DeepThawts 2 жыл бұрын
According to a violin player I know, the technical difference between a violin and a fiddle is that there is a higher, somewhat more rounded arc on a violin's bridge (the doohickey that holds the strings up away from the body of the instrument) than on a fiddle's, which has a much flatter curve. The flatter curve makes it easier for the fiddle player to play double stops (which means, to play two strings at once with the same stroke of the bow).

The Doobies have a wide range of sound..I personally love the early Doobies before Michael Mcdonald. My sons were blown away once when this came on, and me, my sisters and our husbands all stopped what we were doing and sang the whole song.. and we automatically fell into different parts when they hit the ending😄😄. They still say we had to have practiced! We also do a pretty good Seven Bridges Road by the Eagles😆. Great memories, guys.

You were at NIU, and I was a sr. in h.s. A bunch of us who were in choir used to sing this endlessly (especially the parts at the end) while we painted a mural in the student lounge. I ended up at Western Illinois the following fall, so we were *neighbors*.

This song included a technique called a "round", where there are two different parts sung against each other, makes it super interesting. One early morning after the gig was done, years ago in Fairbanks, Alaska, our drummer started this "acapella" at the bar and we had the whole place singing for about a half hour

That is a swampy southern rock/ delta blues tune With the healthy dose of New Orleans Dixieland Jazz and Bluegrass. just a blend of great American music from the south makes this song groove so much. The instruments are the acoustic guitar tuned to double drop D and two guitar tracks, a bass guitar, Viola, an auto harp, wind chimes, drums and percussion. Plus 4 vocalists total contributing to the harmony vocals. Their best track imo.

Thanks for listening to this! A few years ago, someone I was partying with told me to choose a song to hear. This one popped in my mind, outta nowhere...I couldn't remember the name, or the band, but I sang the refrain, and he used the internet to track down the rest. First time I'd heard it in maybe 35 years, but I remember loving it, when I was a child. It always got me wanting to move!

This has a little soft bluegrass feel to it. Makes you wish you were on a raft floating a river. THis is one of those songs i always wanted to be a 8 minute or better session. It just ends too soon. There is a live version of this out there as well.

I'm a chef. Back in my younger days still learning the ropes, I worked in a kitchen at a BnB that had a janky boom box. We had MacGyvered the most horrendous antenna to it. Given our ages we mostly kept it on a classic rock station. The radio had a tendency to not play full 2 way stereo. So when the ending a capella part would come, half of it would be missing. We all knew it happen, and the whole kitchen would sing and fill in all the parts. That was when going to work was fun.
