The Doobie Brothers are from my home town of San Jose, California. The house that they lived in, and used to practice and jam in, is in downtown San Jose, a few blocks from where I live. My favorite Doobie Bros song! Thank you for giving it a listen! Back in the mid-70's, my cousin brought his boombox and mixed cassette tape to the beach with us and it contained this song. The tape also had "The Ballroom Blitz" by The Sweet, "Let It Ride" by BTO, and "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppen Wolf among other similar rock classics. BTW there is a similar but less well known rock song that came out in 1974. Its called "Nogales" by The Climax Blues Band. Based on the lyrics its about an ill-fated visit to the Mexican border town of Nogales (and not to be confused with the Arizona town of Nogales). But it has some great rock guitar riffs. The song serves as a perfect compliment to China Grove. Another complimentary rock song is "Mexico" by Firefall which came out in 1976.

The radio stations played the heck out of this song in Texas. But I still love it!

We used to go to a local pub called Croxton Park Hotel in Melbourne Australia every Wednesday night for months to see a group called Red House Roll Band and they would open their first bracket with China Grove. Never has a dance floor filled so quickly as then. Great song great memories.

Riff for China Grove is iconic, but you really want to play the Doobie's "Eyes of Silver" great guitar work and a funky horn section happening. 🔥

You have to go back a year but it is one of their early reactions. I remember because it is a favorite song of mine, too!

One of my favorite bands from the '70s. That song is from the Captain and Me album. An album worth a complete listen. Every song on it is great.
