One comparable I noted was that when the Lions went through the phases, SA A and the Boks both gave away a lot of penalties and the Boks were lucky not to get a bin.

Somehow as the test nears, I am jhaving strange visions of baby Faz (do do, do-do do do) coming on late, being charged down, seeing a Book touch down and turning to whichever human borrowers just flattened him to say, “wait, you’re not an Ealing Trailfinder!”

Great break down, although I often think we put to much emphasis on surprise tactics in rugby… take the tactics required in track running or cycling… it’s one think knowing what tactics will be, it’s another thing Sebring able to stop it…

I have watched this after the first test today. But my thoughts would have been the same if I had seen it earlier. To beat the Springboks you have to have more possession than they do. If it's 50/50 then they will grind you down, make you give penalties away and make you tired so that they can unleash a very good backline. This sounds simple but SA know it too, it's how they have always played. They will contest every ruck, every scrum and every lineout. So you have to be at least their equal in these areas and then don't make a mistake that gives the ball back to them so they can fire up the meat grinder again. In modern rugby SA are quite unique (because they haven't changed their strategy (as opposed to tactics) since at least the 60's ) They expect to batter you when they have the ball, treat the gainline as their right and when you have the ball mean every tackle to result in a turnover. The only answer is to keep the ball away from them, don't get isolated, hit every attacking ruck like it is a defensive ruck, kick so that either you can contest or apply pressure. Stop them playing like the Boks. Or they win.

Honestly I'm not worried about tomorrow, I trust the Boks squad. We always aim to win test series best believe. As for Warren planning to only use the rest of his tricks in the actual test series could come back to hurt him. I mean don't the UK always say the team needs chemistry? Same like that, the moves are going to be executed by players from 4 different nations for the first time. It could flop. Just the refs need to officiate fairly and no favor to the B&i
