Soap making video for the Soap Challenge Club Feb 2020 - Collaborator Challenge: Drop Swirl Category.
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
This month's soap challenge has been exciting ever since Amy has announced the challenges from January to April! Some of you may have already noticed from the last video that I got engaged! It happened early January and I have been so busy organising the wedding and haven't had time to update and make soap! So happy to share this news with you guys! So, it is actually no surprise that my collaborator is my fiancé Ronnie! He is used to clean after me after my soaping session and now he got to make soap too!
This was actually the second attempt of him making soap because I made a mistake of not reading the guidelines properly and only had two mica lines instead of three. Now, we have to submit the drop swirl category. It is fate to test our patience with each other before our marriage. Haha!!
The colourants I used in this video were:
White- Titanium Dioxide
Blue - Blue Clay
Green - Spirulina
Essential oil blend: Bergamot, Lavender and Patchouli
Time links to the video:
0:22 Mixing of lye solution and oils
0:25 Special Announcement
1:07 Splitting the soap into corresponding portions
1:19 Colouring the soap batter white
1:33 Pouring of the white soap batter
1:44 Colouring the other portions pink, blue and green
2:08 Drop Swirl
3:25 Texturing of the soap top
3:40 Cutting of the soap
3:59 Planing the soap
4:15 Finished photos
It was quite frustrating not being able to touch the soap and blend it. Ronnie was like a snail doing everything and was not listening to my instructions at all! He couldn't follow all three instructions of pouring from a high distance, accurately in the mould or at a quick pace. He could only achieve two! Nevertheless, I think he did a great job and the soap turned out quite cute with a nice colour combination. He is happy with what he did but then he said he will stick to cleaning in the future.
Thank you Amy for organising such a challenge again. For more information about the Soap Challenge Club: soapchallengeclub.com/
