I applied for both my husband' SS disability and for mine. It was a lot of work but I was able to do it. My husband is in a wheelchair and legally blind due to sudden disease. We thought he would be easily approved with all of the documentation we had. It took 5 months after submitting the application. Mine, which I thought would take longer actually took 9 days!!! I got a call that said they were fast tracking my application for "compassionate" reasons. I later found that my the combo of my PAH and respiratory failure and documentation of hospitalizations was considered catastrophic. I recently helped my friend who's adult daughter has a brain tumor and was denied. I directed her to your KZfaq channel and I helped her work through it. She appealed and they sent her to be evaluated by an independent evaluator who hands down agreed with her Drs and more! She was approved! Worth the fight

My attorney knew my judge, in no way personal but 100% professionally. What that did for me was my lawyer knew exactly what that judge would like and require to give me my best shot. Knowing the judges preferences, the lawyer had all my paperwork organized and summited with 20 exhibits the judge could quickly reference as needed. This was worth the $6000 auto payed from back pay check, my way would have been a serious cluster F*&k and most likely ticked off an extremely busy hearing schedule this judge needs to maintain. The journey was painful, the most emotional and financial depression I ever experienced. But once I asked for help via lawyer, my attorney walked me through the process explaining both sides, meaning mine and the system. He never promised a rose garden, but was able to provide confidence that my case was as solid as could be compared to many others.

If it a disability that will last a long time and probably never improve $6000 is a small price to pay. Did Your attorney give you copies of all of the forms you sent? I don't know if they all do that but I do have mine anyhow and I will be scanning and backing them up for safe keeping. Of course I will still have the copies. This is just in case something happens to them or the SSA somehow loses theirs. You never know when that may happen. It may happen with papers sent to them too. At least then you will still be able to print a new copy to send to them.

I had a hearing today and when it was over the judge told me I should know in about 4 to 6 weeks and he also said I will be getting my back pay and he was telling me what day of the month I would be getting my paycheck and he also told me I would be able to get my medicate in December is that normal or is that unusual

I lost my disability case 15 years ago. Since then my husband passed and I have a child and was put on survivors benefits for both of us. I just lost mine due to teen turning 16. I applied for another disability claim but this one is different and was told this type is not as hard to qualify for. Can you confirm that? Would love to talk to you.

I am confused. Do I need to be on one of your insurances in order to have access to your full free membership? And do you do insurance for all 50 states?
@TheDisabilityDigest

You know what upsets me is the first time I had court I had to represent myself because I didn't have time to get a lawyer to go over my case. Long story short I represented myself I should have rescheduled but I didn't and of course I lost but I appealed it when I got my lawyer and I think I was denied again but what sucks is I first applied in 2016 and I would have been back paid from then till last year so now that I had to reapply I got a new drug a new set of eyes obviously and so I won't be getting paid probably maybe a year worth for 2 years worth of back pay I swear they did it on purpose. Very frustrating season least I'm about to just throw my hands up because throughout this I have become bankrupt very poor and I'm about to be kicked out of my apartment and be living in my car so I sent my eviction notice to my lawyer and he's going to send it to the judge and see if he could expedite the court date. Also I have a question Brian is addiction a big deal and it should it be brought up during your court case unfortunately It's been a battle throughout my life.

Can I get a membership so I can get information for someone else who has mental health issues but won't apply for membership. If I can apply for membership for someone else, do I answer your membership questions regarding me or regarding my friend? Thank you.

The more education you have, the younger you are and have to depend on a combination of conditions, the more likely you will need a representative. Oh, the millions of jobs out there doesn't help.

Do you need an attorney? Maybe not but if you can get one to represent you there is nothing to lose. If I am not mistaken they only get paid when they win and it just comes out of the back pay.
