I was on the fence about what size battery I should get but this has convinced me I don’t need a massive battery. Thanks!

Use Gustavo offset chainrings (way cheaper than Lekkie) and perform just as well. They have a narrow-wide profile to hold the chain on better. Also upgrade to a clutch derailleur to keep tension on that chain. The first thing I did was get rid of the stock Bafang chainrings. They're crap.

Like you I want to peddle for exercise. I converted a 26" mountain bike back 2020 with a BBS02, 27" wheels, a Shimano 8-speed IGH. By installing a 54 tooth chainring I can maintain contact with the peddles at fairly high speeds in peddle assist 1. Once tuned it is very hard to beat this setup as I have put over 5,000 miles on this bike in the years since, thanks for the confirming review.

Great video. Love my BBS 02 I use a leckie chain ring of about 42T and my chain line is insanely straight. Like you, I also love using pedal assist zero. There is no need to be using power if I don’t have to.

@banyanstudio - sorry for my belated reply! Thanks for this comment. I also am feeling dislike for the usefulness of cadence PAS. It comes on at a fixed power when all you want to do is pedal. If I just have the throttle, I can use all gears and pedal as I like and then use throttle whenever I need assist, but with throttle YOU control the amount of power (PAS just delivers it at fixed amounts (yes, there's levels but not good enough and not able to modulate quickly and on demand enough as with throttle only. Riding with Throttle only is the best e-bike experience especially in the trails. I feel that this vid of GuntherSnaps is telling us all about what we really want in an e-bike. This vid is more significant than what we all realize in regards to the evolution of e-bike design. All e-bikes should allow throttle in PAS level 0, or offer a "T" (throttle only) level?). Also, for mid-drives kits, they gotta be mindful of chain-line. Another thing that conversions should consider is the recent arrival of 11t-46t 8-speed $60 cassettes from Amazon. The wide range cassette really opens things up for the motors like BBS02/BBSHD (using a Leckie 42T chainring with 5mm offset with this cassette means both 40mph speed and steep hill climbs all on BBS02 52v.

Chain alignment isn't a problem, you need an offset sprocket (chain ring) they're dish shaped to correct the alignment. Lekkie have Bafang specific sprockets.

I am thinking similar, i got the bbso2b 36v 500w and I want so bad to get a 48V battery instead of the my 36v to keep with traffic, reading seems like despite they look the same on the outside, the 36v 500w its a bit lighter, the controller i am pretty sure its the same but I am not sure on the motor 100%,.. I normally push my bike to 13A/500w draw just when I need it and keep it on a safe 300w constantly, rarely go to like 700w and I can feel the acceleration, not sure if I would break my motor by getting a 48v battery by asking it too much

there is a time and a place for everything, I like having all of them to be honest. I have a bbs02 for when I want a workout. I have a bbshd for riding the kiddo around with lots of power and then I picked up a 20" 750w hub motor "motorcycle" thing for just rolling around town

Hi there i got Bbs02b from 2022 and from 3 weeks another HD build. The chain alignment is pain like you say with stock ring. Gustavo chainring with 24mm offset just sleep perfect in my bike and now alignment i way way better. For those who face the issue in future Gustavo chainring from aliexpress guys is the solution. With narrow wide massive teeth. Just do nice job.

it will be more than enough, this things go crazy even on hills, and if you pedal you either love it or have to tune it down, because it will assist you more than you may need, I used to pedal a lot as I am just reaching my 30s I am fit, but basically whatever I push, even if I pedal hard that does not contribute much to the speed unless I just try to stay on a low assist level and keeping a steady speed. normal person can do 20w to 80w on power, pro sprinters they can constantly do 250w I think, so yeah crazy fast

I'm no expert because I've never owned one but I'm sure there are things you can do to prevent the chain line being out of whack and reducing chance of chain coming off. Using a Lekkie bling ring is one of those things that is known as a must do.

@@GuntherSnaps From what I've seen due to shape it moves it so far back in that some have to use a spacer to bring it back out so it doesn't rub against the frame. It's also apparently much lighter compared to the stock offering and has the narrow/wide configuration that prevents the chain from jumping off. Like I said I've not used a a bafang kit before but when I price it up I'm adding the cost of a 42T lekkie ring without ever considering just sticking with stock ring.

Hi there. Would the 750 watt be enough for climbing steep hills on the road, or would the 1000 watt be a better motor to go with? Is the 1000 watt more thrilling to ride? I was also concerned the 1000 watt would disintegrate and wear out my cassette hub faster...
@GuntherSnaps
@GuntherSnaps 2 ай бұрын
All depends on how much you weigh, I'm like 235 lbs and I go up a super steep hill on the bbs02, for me it actually works better because I can get into the correct "climbing gear" with the 02. so it actually takes a lot less effort to get up our steepest hill
