A Screen Gems "Color Rhapsody" cartoon from 1942, produced by Dave Fleischer, supervised by Frank Tashlin, and directed by Bob Wickersham. This is the cartoon in which Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Hideki Tojo were depicted as a vulture, gorilla, and hyena respectively. The cartoon was released by Columbia Pictures.

Wait: Howard Swift (the 'Pink Elephants' sequence of Dumbo), Phil Duncan (John Hubley's solo work), and Bernard Garbutt (best animal artist who ever lived) animated on this? Fucking WIN.

Yeah. Phil Duncan also did some animation of The Fox and Crow cartoons as well.

What an amazing cartoon. I've seen lots of wartime cartoons but this one really grabs at you. Having the small critters being set upon by the evil 3 was genius. It really puts in to perspective what the people were going through in a way that would pull at anyone's heart strings. Well done.

Great Wartime Cartoon,I kinda liked how Dave Fleischer(One of the Fleischer Brothers and the uncle To Popeye And Betty Boop)was involved with this cartoon and most of the designs and backgrounds(especially the nazi leaders being portrayed as a bird,a gorilla,and a hyena)were done well. Too Bad,Columbia Pictures(Now a Subsidary of Sony)’Cartoon Department didn’t age well along with Paramount’s Cartoon Studio(Also known as Famous Studios) and Paul Terry’s TerryToons Studio(even through they did pull out some great and memorable works such as the hit cartoon icons,Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle And they were famous for starting the careers of Cult Animation Legend,Ralph Bakshi,Hanna Barbera animator,Carlo Vinci, Acadamy Award Winning Animators,Gene Deitch And Ernest Pintoff)

After Dave left the Fleischer studio {and Miami} in late 1941, because of infighting and disputes with his brother Max (and before it officially became "Famous Studios"), he became the "producer" of Columbia's cartoon department, staying until 1944.

Too dark, this is only print of that cartoon is exists. I wish that Steve Stanchfield was found that cartoon to restore.

Any similarities between the vulture, gorilla, and hyena in this cartoon and any real currently deceased dictator (Thank goodness) is purely intentional.

I do wonder if this is something that Dave had in mind producing while at his family's studio in Miami had there not been tensions between him and his brother Max.
