Being in this band must’ve been an absolute pain in the ass when it comes to tune all the guitars they used for touring.

Thurston stated that one of the reasons he started using Jazzmasters is because they would use a guitar per tuning, and good Jazzmasters were dirt cheap in the 80’s

Jo Ro do you think the same thing will happen to squire in the future will there price go up as well since famous and known musicians are actually using squire guitars now a lot and they are making them way better now than the ones the came out in the last 10 to 15 years

@@joro4129 yeah, J Masics from Dinosaur Jr. said he was saving up money when he was younger to buy a strat and then found Jazz Masters cheaper.

Not to mention how many swaps they had to do from broken strings. I saw them in the early 90's and I swear (but not certain) that Thurston just had one string left unbroken on his guitar by the end of one of the songs.

Loved the wierd tunings Sonic Youth used. I remember tuning my guitar to play this back in the day. Haven't played this in years. Gonna have to tune to this and see if I remember how to play it.

Youre probably gonna have to give the guitar a whole new setup to properly use this tuning. Dont think you can just retune it since this tuning is so far away from regular tuning.

I believe the tuning is: F# F# F# F# E B The top four strings are the same octave (I believe)

Yeah it’s just low E and D being tuned up: the rest are down. At least it sounded good when I did it like that. I was hiding behind my guitar body while tuning my D string.

This may appear as a really dumb question. But how do I tune my guitar to F#F#F#F#EB? I feel like my strings will snap if I push them any further. Should I be changing my strings to a higher/lower gauge or should I should I be putting a low E string on my A string and so on for the rest of my strings?

For the strings, are the 5&6th strings the same gauge? Same for the 3&4th? And are the 5&6 both tuned to the same low F# while the 3&4 are both a high f#? I really appreciate the guidance!

Maybe the vocals, but I always hate when others are too critical of vocals so I guess I should just try to enjoy the stylization. Sometimes it just feels a little overdone and cheesy. But only sometimes. This song is one I like though.

Maybe you should check out their earlier stuff like EVOL or Sister. These are very different from Goo and later albums and there's a lot less production on them

That’s a facepalm :/ In order to get this song (and all the other SY songs) right you have to tune some strings in unison, otherwise it sounds just roughly similar.
