I mean it as a compliment of course! The breadth of covers are overwhelming and your dedication to figuring out oddball tunings is second to none. I also love that absolutely nothing has changed apart from video and sound quality going back, it's always been the same dude that never shows his face or talks playing the same two guitars, wearing the same 3 or 4 shirts, against the same floral wallpaper background, presumably somewhere in Eastern Europe. Are you Jason Bourne enjoying retirement by any chance? Hahaha. I kid. But I do dig that bit of "mystique" surrounding you and your channel, "don't go-a chagin'". Say, the guys at Mastery should hook you up for your Jazzmaster, you'd be an awesome representative.

Your covers in general are amazing, and I've discovered several of my favorite bands (Deerhunter, Speedy Ortiz - Women!) through your efforts. You are part of what makes the KZfaq community so great. Anyways, I'm wondering if you're a fan of, and might consider covering, some songs by these bands. - Built to Spill - Modest Mouse - Cymbals Eat Guitars - Frightened Rabbit Again, just a request - simply keeping doing exactly what you're doing would be enough: : )

The official tab says this song is in GABDEG which you can only tune down to w regular strings. That is a really unstable tuning though and wrecks the intonation. Very likely they mix and matched string sets to work better in that tuning, as they are know to do, the guitar with 6 high E strings for example
@daniilzadorozhnyy89505 жыл бұрын
now that I've thought about it here is a possible stringing: 5 (A -> G) 5 (A) 4 or 5 (A -> B or D -> B would both be reasonable tension) 4 (D) 3 or 4 (G -> E or D -> E bur something about having the 4th string here would feel weird) 2 (B -> G) So you probably wouldnt want to do that since I don't know what other songs that configuration would be usable for

The alternate tuning has always kept me from playing this classic. Do you find the low E strained when tuned up to G? I'm assuming the D is tuned down to B, as well as the G to D, while the B goes up to E..again...that's a lot of tension. Great playing, thanks!
@slackerVK7 жыл бұрын
There are no ups and downs, as well as no tension thing, it's always restringing with appropriate gauges, when it comes to SY.
@jbrooks13487 жыл бұрын
Ah, that makes sense, otherwise it would be a mess going back and forth. Guess I'll have to designate one of my lesser-played electrics for some SY jams;) Thanks for the reply!

@slackerVK7 жыл бұрын
Different gauges for different tunings. Just get to know how tension affects on the pitch. If you need 6th up to G, get thinner string. Down to C - thicker one. Need 3rd down to D, like in this case, get .24 or .26
