I've already sent this to my dad, my sister, my friends. EVERYONE needs to hear this conversation. Thank y'all for this! Grew up in Tampa my whole life and Jesus found me while in college in Charleston SC. Now instead of trying to explain that cultural whiplash to folks up here I just direct to the podcast. it's so refreshing to get a POV like Esau's in Christiandom. I swear I've resonated with the feelings of people wanting you to check your black upbringing at the door when you're at an evangelical church. And I won't . As much as there is not to be celebrated from my past, there also was alot of love and beauty. I'm from Mobile, AL, went to college in BHAM - they don't know the flavor from down there too. It really was lit in it's own way! Can't wait to pick up the book!

YOOOO!! I was just having the "Lot conversation" with my men's life group yesterday morning! That same question got brought up because someone said, "I can't seem to find God in Lot. Who offers up their daughters to wicked, evil men when they know what they're going to do to them?" And the interpretation got brought up that Lot recognized the men inside his house (not the men outside the door) were angels. To give in to the homosexual men's demands would not only be facilitating an egregious sin, but an egregious sin against angels sent by the Lord God. Lot was not calloused in his attempted handing over of his daughters. It was an act of extreme and reverent sacrifice in order to protect angels from the Lord because Lot recognized that the sin against them would be more detrimental than the sin against his own daughters. That's powerful! Interpretations are often buried beneath the surface.

This was my favorite guest I’ve seen on the podcast thus far. I used to live in Southern Tennessee and worked with a bunch of folks from Huntsville. I don’t even think that’s why, though. He just seems like someone who is down to earth but can teach you a whole lot. That’s my kind of people.

I think y'all should have Bizzle on. I may not be his biggest of fan, but I am highly interested in his insights especially on the origins of CHH, his GOM movement, if there was any rivalry or envy with Lecrae or reach records, race, Jay Z lol etc. I think it will be highly insightful and intriguing.
