In this review, I'm testing the SU-013, a small diaphragm FET condenser microphone on multiple sources: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Drums, Piano and Vocals, and putting it up against one of my favourite vintage microphones, a Neumann KM56! Even in comparison to one of the best mics out there, the SU-013 held its own: I was really impressed with its balanced frequency response and full-bodied sound. I have the matched pair of the tube 013. Marvelous pair. I can compare to a well matched set of AKG C28b tube mics. The Soyuz are quieter but both sets are otherwise stunning.

The KM 56 is Godly on acoustic guitars.. I like the Soyuz as well.. From what I hear, you are absolutely right. The KM 56 is very controlled and subtle which has this beautiful outcome. I really love the detail with the Soyuz SU-013. I'm definitely going to look into the SU-013. Thanks for sharing such a detail review review Warren.

A nice song, wouldn't mind hearing all of it! I think I preferred the KM56 on the acoustic, but overall the SU-013 sounded great. Loved the piano sound especially!

just a tip when playing with ear defenders on drums, the stick will do the work on hi hat else it can make you think the hi hat is too loud, not position so much, internal dynamics, great mic

Woah, I would love to have a pair of these. I was looking for small diaphragm condensers a while back, and unfortunately the Soyuz were just out of my price range. I did however settle on the Lewitt LCT-340 which is quickly becoming one of my favorite mics. Wish me luck!

I like how it's an SDC but has none of that brittle high-end that is reminiscent of other popular models. If you need more highs you can always add it with a nice EQ :)

Seems like the condensing helps to bump up the volume to make the dynamics more noticeable. It's also very "creamy" sounding towards the lower-mids and low end. It's definitely interesting.

A cool position for one mic on drums is kind of under the ride, over the kick pointed towards the snare. Would've gotten a way better balance that way! Also.. Who was the rock star? ;)

I would really love if you could do a give away of audio interface or a large diaphragm condenser mic. I am a musician and this july we are going to record our first cover on a professional mic.I found this channel while searching for help as i have no idea ho to record a song ,mix it and make it sound good like professionals.Please Please someone help me and tell me few things. 1:What software is perfect and easy for recording vocals. 2-How to edit our tune the vocals like professional studios do.(like if plugins are required for the software you'll mention above please do mention them too) and 3-How to mix those vocals with song how to fit em in them to make them sound fresh cover straight from an expensive studio. Why are we going with recording on our own?Because we cannot afford studios.So please help me asap.
