Much appreciated sir - the sound is what struck me the most. It was like that sound that's made when you tear a sheet of paper... except the rocket was ripping the air the same way. Incredibly cool!

you were there? i wanted to see a shuttle launch, although im glad i wasnt there during challenger, watched it live at school though

We were down there on a family vacation and I happened to see Elon Musk make mention of the launch on Twitter. Sometimes I suppose the stars align... I would loved to have seen a shuttle launch. The thrust at lift off of the Shuttle was orders of magnitude higher than the Falcon 9. Nonetheless it was incredible to experience in person - and the sonic boom created by the landing of the first stage very decent!
